Yeah, another very good talent. From what i've been told, is our youth recruitment is much improved and we're casting our net further afield to bring players in.

I think Neil Woods transitioned a few youth team players to the first team in his time at Walsall, and a few when academy manager last time he was in charge of our youth team, and it looks like that is about to bear fruit with us now.

Watching the youth team highlights, aa handful of players look pretty good, and Gradener looks a big strong lad already, and is a good finisher. Think he has a real chance of first team football in the not too distant future.

We do seem to be attracting a better quality of youth player now.

I don’t think it would be possible nowadays. As soon as a kid looks half decent they end up being taken off the lower league club and shoved into a massive pot in a premier league or championship club and most of them never seen again and a lot of them never get the same opportunity as they would by staying where they are. Unfortunately, the lure of money, even at that age, or parents who can’t see the big picture make it an almost impossible situation for them to refuse.

I thought we'd signed decent players in the summer and we still possibly did. I'm not sure how we went from looking half decent in pre-season to a basket case by the end of September.

True. Cartwright is doing fine, and Eastwood might have had his nerves shattered by the poor defence we put up.  DA needs time to form an opinion.
