Whenever anyone mentions Darren Flash Manseram I see the the one real goal he got in front of the Pontoon. Both feet off the ground a volley that would suit many a player, sadly the only one I remember.

The one he got at Tranmere stands out more for me, simply because (I thought at the time) it meant more.

Travelling down to Brighton for a night match, think we where 3 - 0 down after 20 odd minutes?? and Cockers sent off, mate got thrown out for "suggestive behaviour" was it you Moosey???Reckon there was only 20 ish town fans The first game of the season at Preston and how bright that plastic pitch was, 90 minutes of squinting!! The Stoke away game at the Victoria Ground where they invaded the pitch Newcastle away & Dobbins goal winning promotion against Exeter at home 14,000 crammed into BP losing 5-0 to West Ham in the old second division, stood on a milk crate in Constitution Corner memories
Guilty as charged m'lud!!! Some people just cant take a joke.

Anyone recall when we played Swindon at home in the 79-80 season? It was a top of the table challenge, a really tight game at 0-0 in the second half, when one of their players dived across the goal to "save" a certain goal...instead of us getting a penalty though, the ref gave a corner, assuming the save must have been made by their keeper? The outrage at the decision was over-turned about 30 seconds later though when we scored from the corner (can't remember who it was - we had a good routine on corners back then) Justice was done and then to finally see their challenge off, in the last minute or so Tony Ford got the second I look back on that game and think maybe because we stuck to our task in the face of an appalling decision against one of our promotion rivals, that spurred us on to take us up as the champions a couple of months later Nostalgia eh...it ain't what it used to be!
I'd forgotten all about that! That was a big match as our biggest league defeat had been at Swindon 3 0 and they had lots of games in hand over us at the time. We could have ended up playing them in the League Cup semi that year if we'd got past Wolves. Funny how things turn out as Swindon finished mid table and went down a year or two later. You're right, it did spur us on.

With the new season almost upon us lets just wallow in a bit of nostalgia.
Everyone who was there at the time will always remember Wilkie's goal at Everton, Burnett's at Wembley, Jevvo's at Liverpool etc, but what your ONE clearest random memory at a Town game.
Mine is Shaun Cunnington climbing up on the fence in front of the 1000 Town fans after he had scored the winner at Reading in the 4th Round FA Cup replay at Elm Park in 88/89.
I'd just finished living in Reading and thought the townsfolk were tw**s of the highest order so enjoyed that win. My memory was it was a last minute goal and we were all bouncing up and down before he slotted it in. I saw it on BBC News the next morning and you can see the Town fans cavorting before the ball has crossed the line and a wildly waved huge inflatable fried egg taking pride of place in the clip. Oh, and the home fans scattering as the Town fans piled forward as they celebrated. Always nice to see yourself on telly having a complete "manie". The local press weren't impressed as part of the fence came down as a result of our exuberance.

What about that one he scored against Burnley I think, where he got the ball on the left wing and ran with it all the way across the edge of the area. It looked like he'd ran in too far, like he always used to, but he then cut back towards the D and lashed the ball in from the edge of the area.
