The Suicide Squad
8/10

Supervillains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker and a collection of nutty cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X as they are dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.

So much better than the first attempt. I perhaps shouldn’t have but I really enjoyed it.

The Peanut Butter Falcon
7.5/10

Zak runs away from his care home to make his dream of becoming a wrestler come true.

Shia LaBeouf is really good.

Another un-Hollywood Hollywood war film. The Victors (1963). Episodic journey of a squad of US infantrymen through Europe in WWII. Despite having star names in it, it isn’t a vehicle for stars. It feels like the filming of someone’s memoirs. Has a memorable Christmas 1944 scene.

On now on Freeview channel 51. First time I’ve seen it from the beginning.

PS if you want an action movie, this isn’t one. Very little in the way of combat.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

The Dry
7/10

Aaron Falk returns to his drought-stricken hometown to attend a tragic funeral. But his return opens a decades-old wound - the unsolved death of a teenage girl.

Australian crime drama with Eric Bana which was surprisingly good.

A working-class Italian-American bouncer becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South.

Brilliant film.

Ex Machina
8/10

A young programmer is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment in synthetic intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a highly advanced humanoid A.I.

As a rule I’m not much in to Sci-Fi or more accurately don’t gravitate towards it but, I watched this because of a recommendation and I was very impressed.

Really enjoyed ex machina. Reminds me a bit of a film done by Will Smith in I Robot(2004). I dont think it was as good as ex machina though.

The White Tiger (2021). Interesting look at a young Indian guys rise from poverty. I enjoyed this a lot and although the inspiration from the film came from a book you can see this sort of thing loosely happening in real life.

I enjoyed I, Robot too and obviously there are similar themes with ex-Machina. The former is a popcorn movie type and the latter is a bit darker for my money.
Not seen the White Tiger but I have added to my ever expanding ‘to watch’ list.

Of interest Sandford do you have Netflix or Amazon prime . I use to have Amazon prime but switched to Netflix. I find overall the quality is better . Some really good series on there as well. My favourite to date has been Narcos which is about the true story of Pablo Escobar the Columbian drugs lynchpin.
