The Fighter is an excellent film. I love the boxing film genre as a whole, Cinderella Man, Raging Bull, Journey man etc. I watched Mr Calzaghe on Prime recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, he's probably the best British boxer in my lifetime so it was good to relive his career as well as getting some context on his personal struggles during his rise.

Looking forward to the forthcoming Bruno vs Tyson documentary as well.
Have you seen "sons of Cuba "?. Good portrayal of how young Cuban boxers train .

The life of David Gale 8/10

A University of Texas professor of philosophy and capital punishment abolitionist, David Gale, finds himself on Death Row convicted of murder. Days before his execution, skeptical journalist Bitsey Bloom is sent to conduct David Gale's final interview. Unaware that she would not be investigating Dr. Gale, Bitsey and her sympathetic intern leave to Texas for what is to become a story of a lifetime.

A brilliant film.

Irresistible.

Big shot political analyst gets involved in a small town mayoral race and it escalates into an all out battle between Republicans and Democrats, with each party throwing more and more resources at the 2 candidates.

There is a twist to the story at the end, but it's basically a whimsical comedy/drama of the type the Americans churn out in their hundreds. It was ok but instantly forgettable. Had to go and look up the name of the film this morning as I had forgotten it from last night.

The little things 7/10

Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe Deacon is sent to Los Angeles for what should have been a quick evidence-gathering assignment. Instead, he becomes embroiled in the search for a serial killer who is terrorizing the city.

Pacing and editing issues but if you can suspend your belief enough there’s a decent enough movie in there. Denzel is likeable as always and Jared Leto is good again.

Watched this last night and it annoyed the sh1t out of me. After the third time a I said to myself "that wouldn't really happen", I lost interest. Carried on to the end but it didn't get any better.

I can totally see that point of view. In hindsight I was probably one star too generous to be honest. Shame really because Washington is always good and I thought Leto was very creepy and convincing.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 (on Netflix)
The film follows the Chicago Seven, a group of anti–Vietnam War protesters charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines with the intention of inciting riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Funny at times but deeply disturbing at others - I found an entertaining film

I really enjoyed this film too. I would recommend ‘just mercy’ off the back of this film.

Still has to be my favourite film ever. The Equalizer released in 2014. Denzel Washington's raw portrayal of karma really moved me .

I saw that and thought it very good, although the follow up seem to have something missing, Just didn't seem as good.

Agree on Just Mercy - the scene leading up to the execution was tough - great book as well
Would also like to visit the National Memorial for Peace and  Justice if I get a chance to go back to Alabama again
