I really love Ken Loach and his raw, powerful if bleak films but for me personally, I found 'Sorry we missed you' too be a bit too 'Ken Loachy'. No doubt it's an important social commentary and well made film but it was relentlessly depressing right upto the final scene with the beaten up main character, probably with internal bleeding driving away from his home despite protests from his family screaming something along the lines of "I've got to go to work, I've got to go to work." It sort of reminded me of the final scene in Texas Chainsaw Massacre with the woman who sort of escapes onto a main road but is screaming, soaked in blood, never to be the same again.
I take your points entirely and I believe a lot of the time these films are to be endured rather than enjoyed despite them being extremely well made and acted out. I give them high ratings for those very reasons. Bleak and depressing but unfortunately very revealing with some uncomfortable truths for us all. Boiling Point won’t be for everyone as Ginny illustrates but perhaps my comparison with loach isn’t the best or most encouraging for people to give it a whirl. Perhaps a comment referencing it’s unrelenting one take style would have sufficed.

Was probably due to me being full of cold and not in the right frame of mind. It wasn't terrible and I may go back and watch the rest. Been watching a lot of films because I've been feeling too yucky to do much of anything else and was probably just viewing fatigue. Stephen Graham is always watchable.

I’m laid low with a chest infection and started on antibiotics and steroids yesterday. I’ve been motoring through films over the last week. Not being able to sleep helps as usual. I’ve watched some crap I wouldn’t normally want like King Arthur but I’ve rewatched some easy watching stuff. I guess it’s like comfort food.off the top of my head I have done both the Equalizer films, Kick behind 1 and 2, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead and People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan. Started the tv series ‘Crime’ and caught up with 2 episodes of Yellowstone which I absolutely love.

Kill the Messenger 8/10
A journalist at a minor newspaper, Gary Webb (played by Jeremy Renner), gets a tip-off that a witness at trial of a drug dealer is a government informant, and is importing drugs into the U.S. After much investigation he uncovers evidence that suggests that the CIA are allowing U.S.-backed rebels in Nicaragua to sell large quantities of drugs in the U.S. in exchange for arms. Once he publishes the story, his world is turned upside down.
A film along similar lines to the Report and Official secrets both of which I liked a lot. I really enjoyed this too.

Yeah I’m ok ta. Hoping the meds will kick in and take effect tomorrow. It’s a minor irritation in the grand scheme of things but I’m taking advantage. Thanks for asking.

Don’t Look Up 8.5/10
Two low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.
It goes against the grain a little on what’s already been written about this film but I thought it was very good indeed. I really enjoyed the satire and thought it was funny, sad, poignant and scary.

Ordinarily I watch a lot of films and TV anyway but I’m motoring through loads at the minute. I copy and paste a synopsis (usually the shortest one) from the the bible that is IMDb.
