My concern with Conteh is that he generally does just about enough in games, but rarely seems to go that extra step which would raise his level just a bit further. Never seems to be busting a gut which is fine if you're winning everything in a game whilst playing within yourself, but he rarely does. I think that the way he is playing was perhaps enough for him to be dominant in games last season but he's a division higher now and a little bit more effort from him would make a big difference to what he could achieve for the club and himself. He certainly has the footballing ability and the physique to become a very good player but he's not made himself indispensable this season as last night showed.

Isnt it also about the balance? I.e. without waterfall we lack leadership, but hes vulnerable in other aspects. We still have to resolve how to get the best out of rose, hes running round like a nutter every game with v. Little help. The midfield needs sorting as well, that midfield looked really good last night, and that's without conteh , which leads on to the question, how do we best use Cobteh, as in sure were not using him to his full potential.
We have sorted out the g.k. situation , which was a conundrum, now we need to sort out the rest of the spine; central defence, midfield balance n support for Rose

Think Charles and Harry will be a huge key to getting support to Rose, Eisa on the left likes to hug the touchline and come inside every time. He's quite predictable in what he wants to do and doesn't have that burst of pace that can really make him unplayable. Charles is very capable of going both ways and is willing to go in behind aswell with his pace and the same can be said for Harry. One thing we didn't have with Abo and Arthur out wide is that ability when your penned in to go in behind because neither of them have that pace to challenge the full back and they both want it to feet. One big thing from last night was our patterns from building out, it'd go from Waterfall to Toby then inside to one of the midfielders and it'd be a little clip over there left back for Harry or someone else to get in behind. As technically limited we believe Harry may to be, physically there's not many that can match him in this division and as much as that should be a reason to play him centrally to cover ground. It's a massive plus for him to be out wide and help us stretch teams because like Rose, he won't stop pressing and it really put them under so much pressure. You won't get that from Arthur or Abo. It's no suprise that when he's pushed back out wide that he has his best game of the season. I think he personally wants to play centrally but he's so much more of a threat out wide and can quite easily be one of the best wide players in the division. Reminds me of like a young James Milner.

On my previous post, Artell referred to it at the end of his talk with Matt Dean. I believe we have a player incoming and it's someone well known to him. I listened to what he said about Charlie Kirk and the way he was very sure about the way he worded things made me believe those discussions were more than just a Merry Christmas, this is a bloke with a degree in forensic biology and is very articulate with how he talks. I've seen the name Ben Garrett knocked around but that to me would make no sense due to us having two goalkeepers here already.

Good points raised, although I would argue that Eisa's turn of pace over 5-10 yards is pretty impressive. Often enough to beat the first man.

It will be interesting to see what FGR and Salford do in the January window. They both have pretty wealthy owners and might attempt to buy their way out of danger much as Bradford did in January 2021.

Harry has great stamina and energy, but pacy?  Not so sure about that.

He turned 21 a few days ago, if he was any of our youth products we’d be saying how brilliant he is for his age but there seems to be this mega high expectation of somebody just starting their career. Artell referenced his age as to why he’d given him a break last night and that feels like the best approach to me.

I’m convinced we’ll sell him for a lot of money in the future.

I don't think he has shown he is brilliant. He's shown he's got ability, but I don't recall too many games where he has particularly stood out. I'd be delighted to see him dominate the middle of the park and prove himself the player we've seen in fits and starts, but I think he needs to put a bit more into games to do this.

Conteh is excellent at his job, which is to sweep in front of the back four, break up attacks, win the ball and give it to others.

Not really sure what more you want from him, especially in a struggling side. If we were sweeping teams aside, he may have more license to get forward, but we are not there yet. He's only played 20 odd league games and he's still learning.

Have to say I don’t understand your comments re Conteh at all. Sure he’s not the stand out player every week but for his age has, IMO, proven to be our best midfielder by a country mile and I’m not sure what extra your expecting him to put in?

Funny game how we all view players differently.

Conteh makes the hard stuff look easy . Great player and also a player who is playing strictly to orders wether it’s PH or DA. Great player and a shoe in for young player of the year ….
