Starbuck's deal at Tranmere runs out at the end of the month apparently. Could there have been something lost in translation and it's a Tranmere full back that is a possibility?

There are always good players out there who need to move on.
Could be a loss of form, or return from injury.
Maybe some younger players at the same club have displaced an older good player.

The challenge is to chose the right player who has the right skills, attitude and application

I think it's always a dangerous one, judging players that many of us haven't ever seen, that are still relatively young. As I say he's been in one very good academy for a long time at Manchester United before Sheffield United so must have something about him.

Seen it so many times, seemingly poor players going elsewhere and becoming very good, especially at a younger age. I've always been careful with it since the Rob Jones situation, terrible one year - fantastic the next. Personally, whoever we sign, I shall wait until I've seen them play to draw too much of a conclusion.

Minimum of two/three players needed in before the Notts County game, in my opinion.

However, we could do with 5-6 players coming in during January, which is not what you should be saying going into that window.

Centre Back
Rodgers not good enough and Waterfall, although commanding, is losing his legs.
Both of them should be nothing but backups.

Centre Mid
Need someone to partner Conteh in a 4-4-2 formation.
Andrews does ok and on some occasions plays some good stuff, but generally he is quiet the majority of time.
Gav and Harry both blowing hot and cold more than my wife.
Green, although tough tackler, gets caught too many times.

Left Winger
Abo Eisa has contributed 1 goal and 1 assist in his last 15 games - Not good enough.
Khan and Vernam injured more than Darren Anderton.

Right Winger
Ghanoua has contributed 1 assist in the whole season (League games) - Not good enough.

Striker
Glaring obvious that Danny Rose needs support up top - This surely has to be no1 target for Artell.
Pyke not good enough and Wilson plays one game and misses 9 through injury.

What is worrying is that in the summer, we need nearly a completly new squad, as I personally wouldn't be bothered about any of them leaving, probably excluding Conteh and maybe Rose.

Or in more recent times Danny Collins who in his first season at least showed his class in terms of organising & reading the game, 2nd season age caught up with him sadly.
