Conteh makes the hard stuff look easy . Great player and also a player who is playing strictly to orders wether it’s PH or DA. Great player and a shoe in for young player of the year ….

I think that is the important point. You don't always notice how good he is as he makes it look effortless. Definitely has great potential and we are likely to do well out of him. Occasionally makes a mistake but who doesn't. I'm still surprised he came here on a 3 year deal, I think. That was good business.

I don't think he has shown he is brilliant. He's shown he's got ability, but I don't recall too many games where he has particularly stood out. I'd be delighted to see him dominate the middle of the park and prove himself the player we've seen in fits and starts, but I think he needs to put a bit more into games to do this.

He’s 21 and plays for his full national side, albeit a side ranked 127th in the world rankings. This is his first full season playing at this level and tbh, he’s had some very good performances. Like the rest of the squad, nothing has been straight forward so far this season, but with DA at the helm, am sure there will be a more positive approach to his game. I reckon instilling that bit of confidence into his game, just like hunt and eisa, will do the lad wonders.

when is Ska starting his transfer window predictions/educated guess competition?

I'm going to dive in , with 2 guesses.
1) Kirk won't come here - more likely to end up at somewhere like Stockport, Shrewsbury or Lincoln
2) this is me putting 2 and 2 together, and given how useless I am with these predictions, probably making 9!
Conor McGrandles.
This is on the basis of Artell saying that he'd spoken to kirk about something, which would become clear in the next week or 2. I wonder if the 'something' might be McGrandles, his team mate for 2 seasons at Charlton. McGrandles is ex Lincoln. Joe will have been involve with his recruitment, so will know him well. Tall ,hard working , good all round central midfielder (so ticks the boxes as to what we need), who has only featured in 6 or 7 Charlton games this year, and was loaned out at the same time last season to Cambridge

I take it that a New Player wouldn’t be able to be included in the squad/play tomorrow?

I don’t see why they couldn’t in theory. We announced the signing of Adi Yussuf before the Blackpool game on NYE 2016, and he played and scored in the win away at Carlisle on the 2nd Jan.

It would be a simple case of making sure the paperwork was filed in good time, I’d have thought.

That’s very similar to a Thursday transfer and player starts on a Saturday.  I believe the window doesn’t open until 23.59 tonight - unless a player is unattached and maybe registration could be achieved earlier?

Looking a bit further into this, Luke Armstrong, who signed for Carlisle on 18th December, cannot play against Port Vale tomorrow. So, barring the highly unlikely signing of someone who was a free agent before the end of the last window, no sneaky new faces on the team sheet against Walsall.

It's not easy signing players permanently in January, so I'd suggest we will have to hit the loan market. Two Centre backs, a central midfielder and a striker, all from higher leagues, seems to me to be a minimum requirement at this stage unless we want a dire relegation scrap till the end of the season.

See if we can get Smithy back from Hull for the rest of the season. No harm in asking.
