With Germany crashing out overnight England have about as easy a route to the Final as you could ever ask for.

We were also going to be in the weaker half of the draw as one half of the draw comes from Groups A, C, E & G and the other half in made up of Groups B, D, F and H. But our path to the Final has been made easier by Brazil, Canada and Germany all failing to get out of their group into our half of the draw.

Nigeria (World Ranked 40th) in the Round of 16 followed by either Colombia (25th) or Jamaica (43rd) in the Quarter-Final. Then a Semi-Final against one of France (5th), Australia (10th), Denmark (13th) or Morocco (72nd)

England are currently ranked 4th, although this is a bit false as England hosted Euro 2022 and missed out on ranking points from not having to qualify. That would have provided England just enough possible ranking points to be ranked 1st if we had qualified for euro 2022 with a 100% record.

Basically… it’s coming home.

USA out. Whatever you make of women’s football, there was no shortage of drama about Sweden’s winning penalty. Worth a watch.

Yes, talk about narrow margins, that ball was over the line by about a millimetre.

Lauren James needs to learn from that, no need for it

Silly girl. Shades of Beckham ‘98. Hero to villain in one short rush of blood to the head.

Another England trait at major tournaments, the you and exciting new player getting sent off for losing their heads. See also Beckham and Rooney.

Much worse than Beckham's which was a meaningless waft of the leg and should never have been a red card. In the days of VAR, that stamp was beyond mindless. She's believed the hype too much and got stroppy when she was being kept out of the game.

It will take a remarkable performance to get through now and Nigeria have played really well to this point.

Really foolish decision that she will regret forever. It’ll be hard for England to prevail without her now, so she’s let her team mates down today and for the semi if we get there. Nigeria look incredibly fit and physically strong without having much threat.

A tournament for the underdogs.

Looks like the rest of the world have quickly caught up to the tournament favourites.
