Not like it would be now cos pubs were not open all day ,blokes drank mild and bitter and didn't have the disposable income of today to spend on booze

Speaking to one of my family who came from Grimsby recently things were often tougher pre war and post war world war 2 . They  had to use a outside toilet for one  which wasnt easy in the depths of winter. Similarly listening to views of people on a audio cd  that had to go and live and work  in the workhouse where conditions were tough with the last few closing in 1948. Some hated the thought of going in and sadly hung themselves.

I never realised an inside toilet was a thing until our slums were demolished and we moved into a council flat in 1963.

In the Hope Street area and many others it was totally normal until the post war slum clearance really took effect.

I found summer worse than the winter with spiders and flies making the outside toilet a mini adventure.

Happy days as they say!

!
That was quite late 1963!.  Whenever I've been abroad you occasionally have to use a toilet which is literally a hole in the ground. Saw this in Israel in 2018 for one. Didn't like it at all so feel for you having to endure sanitation conditions like that till the early 1960s.

The Fishy must be the only place in the world where a debate about a World Cup happening in Australian in 2023 can involve 1960’s Grimbarian outside toilets.

😄

I note Queen Leticia and her daughter princess Sophia  from the Spanish royal family are  traveling over to support their women in tomorrows final . Would of been nice for the English girls to get a bit of royal backing but sadly no be it king Charles or prince William. Quite like Prince William as a person and it's a shame he couldn't make it as president of the FA.

Bronze has made at least 3 bad errors in this tournament.  Hope Hurst is not watched with 2 subs on at HT.

Love the story with organised women’s football banned until 1971.  Women players not allowed to use changing rooms after games.  One player had to wash her mud off in a duck pond, sharing it with the ducks.

I’m not sure why the ref / VAR are taking so long to award this.

The guilty look on Walsh’s face gave it away.
