The argument against women tennis players being paid equally should surely be the fact that they don't play anywhere near as many games?

It really doesn't make sense in the modern era. No reason that professional women tennis players shouldn't be fit enough to play 5 sets if required. It seems almost a throwback that it is seen as acceptable for them to play no more than three sets. It's not as if women athletes run 60% of the distance for a marathon.

But is it the fitness to do 5 sets that they should be judged on , The fight for equal prize money at tournaments began  when Wimbledon and such was dominated  by men with massive serves that couldnt be returned and the matches became repetitive and boring  ....yet the women was serving up competitive tight matches that where entertaining and exciting  so it was the womens matches drawing the TV viewers etc

I’d say I’ve seen some technical execution of skills and techniques in this tournament as good or better than many pro men’s teams I’ve seen at various levels. The Spanish goal that won the tournament was exceptionally well executed, and Lauren James has scored some fine goals too. I think the elevation in standards in this aspect has been rapid.

Top women's tennis players would love to play 5 sets for equal money if given the chance. They haven't said they don't want to. They've never had the opportunity.

Dont care if they get paid more than men or peanuts for playing, but watching 2 women stood behind the baseline grunting and groaning (don't go there people) hitting half volleys to each other till one of them miscalculates by a few inches (most games) is not exciting.

Watching tennis recently on the BBC via Wimbledon  they touched on this issue about this ever happening in the future?.

Thing is Madeley tennis I find is more demanding than football especially mentally. Noone to blame but yourself if things go wrong. I get it that some tennis matches can go on very long and as much as I love the sport I often have to get up and take a break during TV coverage . If you have Netflix check out breakpoint which is a series on the sport looking at how players get on. Decent show that gives you a insight into what it takes to get to the top and how competitive things can really get.

It was all just a bit of a non-event for me I'm afraid.

I just struggled to get excited about the game despite it's importance.

Last Season - according to Statista Research;
WPL; 6961.
MPL: Man U. 73k.down to 32.5K.Leicester.
Coupled with the sponsorship & other vast income in the mens game - the sums don't currently add up for equal pay for women .
Simples.
Enjoyed the Women's World Cup.

Our top brass decide it’s not important enough to attend. The Spanish president clearly thought otherwise and even snogged the Spanish captain after…
