Lincoln fans coming on here to give us opinions on a player who has already played for us before. Yeah, thanks for the important insight.
Weird.
After their evaluation of Nolan ( excrement-worst player ever etc) I stopped listening to them. They're even worse now with the influx of new fans (and 'lapsed' fans who pick and choose between Lincoln and Man City according to current success)

With all these wide players signing it will be interesting to see how Clifton is used , as I think he's best off the left hand side . Is Hurst going to trust him with a longer run of games in the middle of the park I wonder ?
Arguably both Clifton and Pakistan's finest OK7 can play as a 10/attacking midfield role which is even more options. Clifton can bring the ball forward well though so I'd like to see him with Hunt and A.N.Other as the Xavi/Iniesta/Fabregas triangle with pacy wide forwards ahead of them.

There does seem to be a weird impression on this forum that Hurst signed Vernam last time, it was actually Slade then Jolley, but some posters insist it was Hurst despite overwhelming proof to the contrary
It’s a weird misconception. Vernam first signed for Town well over a year after Hurst left, with Bignot having been at the helm between him and Slade who signed him.

Pleased with this signing. His brilliant goal at Colchester shows his potential.
Ffs....how many more times ......that goal was all about the Whitehouse assist, virtually put on a plate for Vernam. 🙃

If we were still talking about his potential when he’s 26 I’d be concerned, but personally i think he’ll be great for us. Really happy with this signing.

I don't think you will find many Lincoln fans knocking him because he is a likeable fella - He also showed plenty of endeavour when he did play. We got him and Paudie O'Connor, Bradford's Captain in the same week and I think most thought Vernam was the one who would work out better. However, that was not the case, with O'Connor getting our Player of the year.
Some players quite naturally find it difficult when they move up levels and I think Vernam clearly did - There is a big chasm between L1 and L2 in my opinion. 30 odd appearances and 1 goal, no assists, sort of confirms that. I do think he will do well in L2 though, his pace and finishing just wasn't quite enough in L1 but I think will be fine in L2. I was surprised we got a fee though, especially as I believe Bradford bit 75k so you must have outbid them. Anyway I hope he does well - I did hear a rumour you were interested in a young lad we have who is on Loan in Ireland - Freddie Draper, I think he has bags of potential and could do very well for us in the future - He is about to come back after his loan finishes at the end of June.

It’s a mad thought to me that somebody wouldn’t be happy with this. Each to their own & all that but virtually every club at our level would be improved by Vernam.

Let’s hope he ranks well on the ‘played for Lincoln scale’
1. Waterfall (last 2 seasons) 2. Nolan 3. Arnold . . . Somewhere in the middle: Whitehouse, Green…. . . . Bottom 2: Habergham and Waterfall (relegation season).

As much as I love Luke Waterfall , he won't be the mainstay of a team wanting to challenge at the top end I don't think, fully expect him to be backup ,especially if as expected we are trying to play it out from the back - his right foot club might not make the cut.
