After Life (Series 3)
10/10

Follows Tony, whose life is turned upside down after his wife dies from breast cancer. He contemplates suicide, but instead decides to live long enough to punish the world for his wife's death by saying and doing whatever he wants. Although he thinks of this as his "superpower", his plan is undermined when everyone around him tries to make him a better person.

I absolutely love this show. Brilliant!

Sounds great. I’ll see if I can find it.

Hunters
7.5/10

In 1977, in New York City, a troubled young Jewish man bent on revenge is taken in by a secret group of Nazi hunters fighting a clandestine war against the cabal of high-ranking Nazi officials in hiding who work to create the Fourth Reich.

I can totally see why this series has divided people with its uneven pace and it’s leaping from 1 extreme to another. However, I have really enjoyed it and think there is a touch of Tarantino to it which is a good thing in my eyes.

The Plot Against America
8/10

Characters live in an alternative history in which Franklin D. Roosevelt was defeated in the U.S. presidential election of 1940 by Charles Lindbergh.

Disclaimer-I have not read the Philip Roth book upon which this series is based. I am judging solely on the series itself as a frame of reference.
I was really impressed with this despite reading some less than favourable reviews. From David Simon and Ed Burns who gave us The Wire among other works.
I thought the acting was great putting in to reality an interesting concept. There is no great ‘action’ but for me it’s a good character story well told and worth anybody’s time.

Trigger Point
4.5/10

Drama series following Lana Washington, an experienced bomb disposal officer working for the Metropolitan Police.

I wanted this to be line of duty level, I’d have accepted bodyguard standard but it even fell well short of that and I wasn't overly enamoured with it either. I only persevered with it for my better half. A Shame. A good cast wasted!

Generation Kill
9/10

Following multiple recon marines during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a group of mixed personalities, you see the dysfunctionality of the military, and on other times, how formalized and heroic it can be. A Rolling Stones reporter joins reconnaissance marines invading Iraq and recounts the mix of horrors and hilarity he encounters during his time there.

Not really what I was expecting but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed that series. Think it was based on the experience of a real embedded journalist.

Ed Burns produces brilliant series. I spent most of it wondering why the reporter seemed so familiar until it dawned on me he’s Terry from Wayne’s World. Amused me. Simple things and all that!

Forces TV (Cgannel 96 Freeview) is showing old Dr Who series. I’m enjoying one at the moment with Nicola Bryant as Peri. 😛

Yeah, I really enjoyed it too but I thought it went on just a little too long and became a bit patchy towards the end.

Don't know if you have watched the Americans, which is espionage based and to my mind a lot better than Homeland. If not, it's highly recommended.

I’ve finally got round to starting this-obviously I’m late to the party and there are another 72 episodes to go which is daunting but I’m hooked already. Cheers 👍🏻
