allegedly! although that still doesn't give us any indication as to what stage the negotiations were at
Given that the process is that the club is supposed to submit the request for the FA/FL to run the ‘test’ the GT article implied negotiations were near completion. The test is normally done when the parties are in substantial agreement. The fact of a club asking for the test to be done indicates they want it to happen. Alternatively I suppose a club could use the test as some sort of ‘pre-qualification’ before starting talks in earnest - ‘there’s no point in us even talking to you if the FA are later going to rule you out’. Since that article Fenty has said the prospective buyer(s) haven’t demonstrated they have the funds or shown their ‘vision ‘ for the club. This would suggest things are not as advanced as the GT article implied. Unless that alternative approach was being used and the club is then applying a higher standard than the FA test (probably not a bad idea given the apparent ease with which some clubs have been taken over ...,, Leyton Orient’s last owner e.g.)

I am increasingly concerned that Shutes hasn't got the money whether he just hasn't got the cash period and is looking for another backer or whether Fenty is simply asking too much, either way I fear cash is the problem and in fairness I don't want a takeover by someone who can't invest some funds into the club.

That’s not different from now though is it? No one has ‘invested’ in this club for yonks.

Very true, in fact that is one of the sticks we beat Fenty with so I thought we wanted someone to come in who would invest. If Shutes isn't going to invest then surely there's not much point us all getting excited and wanting him to takeover, unless of course we just want Fenty out at any price and it doesn't really matter if the new man changes things or not.

My view is that the club is not being run very well and that no outside attention seems to be welcome. I’m realistic enough to accept that no-one is going to come in and throw millions at the club. But even if a new owner didn’t particularly invest. I believe the club could still improve just by better management at board level.

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

I don’t know where the ‘we’ comes from in ‘we wanted someone to come in who would invest’. I (and quite a lot of of other posters) have said we want someone to come in and run the club better and help it fulfill its potential. Extra money for the squad would come from improved income. I wouldn’t want any Tom, male private or Harry to take over the club. I expect the Trust to be looking at that from the supporters’ point of view and not trusting to the football authorities. Not quite ABF. As for beating Fenty with that stick. I think you’ve misrepresented it again. It’s not the lack of money he’s put in, it’s the way he’s run things leading, amongst other things, to lost revenue and poor performance. But you know all that really. You’re not stupid. Just provocative.
