More from the telegraph:

"Entrepreneur and developer Tom Shutes, who has expressed an interest in the takeover of the club, is understood to be a key player in the plan.

He has ambitions to invest in Grimsby and build a centre of excellence for construction to provide opportunities for apprentices.

He is also understood to favour a stadium site in abandoned areas of Grimsby docks, a key area earmarked for regeneration.
"

So the reason for not hearing anymore on the takeover could be significantly linked to these developments? Could it be Shutes would not conclude any deal unless he can get the stadium as part of the regeneration he is involved with?

Or is it just more fabulous conjecture from the telegraph. Butty if you are out there and listening can you clear all this up for us? What did your director mate tell you about this?

Pretty much matches what I said a few posts back, and it makes sense. It's a much more encompassing vision than just bringing GTFC into the modern day, it's seeing GTFC as part of the Town and one of the many elements that not only needs modernising, but will be a huge part of that modernisation blueprint.
No firm new ground plans= no sale of the club, and thats a pretty fair business approach.

Ah sorry I missed your post!

I think this is Mr.Shutes main interest in Town really. If the regeneration of the Town is to last and be a success and not prove to be something of a white elephant then it needs at its heart a reason for people to continue to spend their time and money in the area. I think that is how he might see the football club. It would be a win win for all concerned really.

Wether people like football or not locally I can`t think of anything else that pulls in around 4k local people 23 x times a year in one hit ? In terms of leisure time probably only the cinema would be a rival and that is a high class venue fit for purpose in a prime location with ample parking and eateries.

There is a real opportunity to regenerate Freemo, Docks and Top town area.  With the right vision, with a community football club at the heart of it, surrounded by leisure, drinking and eating outlets.
They was talk of a building a cinema, museum etc.
Put all the idea's under one directive, to create something special.

I think the idea of a cinema as part of the plan is a great idea ( a bit like the MK Dons development ). It would certainly be better than the one planned for the riverhead.

The cost of this would be huge.

Simple question, where's all the money coming from? Government money cannot be used to fund a private company like GTFC so all the money that they have pledged can't be used. Town would have to find it all themselves.

So very true. The only way that I can see is if the council use the regeneration money to build a sports complex " for  the yufe " and " homeless " and rent it out to the football club
