As I understand it, number 3 dock is adjacent to the north quay and Humber Bridge Road. Looking at satellite images, that area seems to be well in use.

On the other hand, the water to the north of Murray Street appears to be completely closed off by a marina. I suppose you could fill that in and put the stadium there.

Number 3 Fish Dock is pretty big but it is now sort of out of the way.

Filling it would not be too easy but possible. An interesting alternative might be to build the ground on stilts like Princes Quay shopping centre in Hull.

Every town fan would be over the moon to have the stadium on the Quay side wouldn't they?

What an iconic development that would be - it would soon become a fantastic talking point throughout football and would be a magnificent tribute to our heritage and history. A state of the art stadium within a new dock development with the dock tower as a backdrop was always a fantastical dream for me and many others - I wrote a letter to the Telegraph years ago about how breathtaking it would be but I never believed it would ever be taken seriously by the powers that be.

If, and it is the biggest if going, this rumour has any credence to it then it should be pursued by everyone who has the power to influence these things as it would be the greatest thing for Grimsby as a town for decades - the knock on effect of dockside regeneration would be huge.

Freeman Street would be good, but this would be on a whole new level altogether.

Lets be having some confirmed news about the stadium and the takeover soon and get the club and the town rocking and rolling.
