If it is organised properly, I would be prepared to help, contact media organisations etc to get this the coverage it deserves.

But AND I STRESS BUT: it has to be organised in a proper manner, get GTFC  and LCFC involved...maybe a few players to promote it from each team, official forms will have to be made, look into insurance for an event and contact local charities to raise money for, businesses to sponsor and donate gear etc.

There is a lot to do, but least the match is over two months away!

Maybe get both captians and both youngsters (Bennett & Hone) who were nominated for league two player of the year to help back it, by doing that would add a lot of credibility! I'm sure Jackson would want to show his support as would players and fans who have had relatives suffer with cancer.

What would the campaign be called...Bike for life? or something like that. Lets get serious ideas rolling as it needs to be started now!

I will contact Humbeside and Lincolnshire police by email, then maybe organise a meeting, look how much is needed to be raised rtc.

Agree Ian. The benefits are enormous if it's done properly but it is a hell of a long way. Our CAR doesn't like Cabourne hill much!! We need to have the route carefully planned. I wouldn't discount the route out the back through Binbrook because I think there are marginally less severe hills. It should also be safer as in less traffic. One of the issues for the A46 I'd guess will be the need for marshalls etc. to keep cars advised of the event. I'd guess the riders will be well spread out. Probably need refreshment stations along route and first aid unless you have the first aid in the van. Surely some firm will lend us a transit for the day?  The firm in Grimsby near the station (Ready Rent a Car?) have a branch in Lincoln as well.

Barralad the best sponsored bike rides go at the pace of the slowest and stick together.... less dangerous , easier to police/escort and control...
Sod the traffic on the A46... they are used to being stuck behind tractors and caravans so a few cyclists won't hurt anything.... probably overtake
a tractor anyway.... c'mon Bosty... bring yours along as escort ?

I bow to your superior knowledge (meant genuinely). Perhaps the Police will have (any) guidelines necessary. Where is Bosty by the way??

I'll have a word with my friend, she follows Lincoln for her sins, and is training as a nurse and if Town win I can tease her as her lad plays for Lincoln...god we had better win!

If I was fit enough and had a decent bike I'd be up for this. It's a big ask for those who are not fit enough. I must've done the route hundreds of times in my car and yes, some of the hills are bad. Good luck to those taking part. The acid test will be riding past The Salutation Inn without going in for a pint. Maybe that's just me!
