It is a long way to cycle without training.
I'm far too unfit and old to complentate participation however I'd be pleased to sponsor the guys (& gals?) for a very worthy cause

Can you imagine cycling up the hill leading up to The Swallow?!!  There's probably another 30 miles after that.  Not on your life.  Plus I ain't got a bike.....

Sounds like  a great idea, well done!  Hope you dont mind, but I have posted your thread and the one from your OS on our busiest board which currently is      http://www.lincoln.vitalfootball.co.uk/

If you go to club forum I have pasted it in there, it may help raise some sponsorship, or give ideas/help etc

£5 penalty for the side which finishes the lowest out of Lincoln or Grimsby in the BSP this season
£5 penalty paid by the other for the side that has the highest league scorer out of Lincoln and Grimsby
£5 penalty for which side gets the most points over the other covering both league games.

Bet between Impish and Mariner91, loser has to pay cheque to kids wards at Diana POW or Lincoln County Hospital.

I don't own a bike plus my fitness it would do my health more damage then good, the idea is good, plus I don't fancy smelling like an arab in Cairo whilst watching Town! And Yes I have been to Cairo!

Seems we have a fair bit of support. I have email town already asking for some support from them and Jon is speaking to Lincoln today. The biggest stumbling block is whether the Police will let us do it on a big police game like this one, but I'm pretty hopeful that we won't be told we can't do it. I'll start training today.

You will be  lucky if the police let you do it before a local Derby where there has been trouble in recent years!

Yeah I see what you mean, but we'd aim to get into Lincoln two hours before kick off. The most we'd need would be one copper on a pushbike or even motorbike just to follow us in. That's just a drop in the ocean compared to the police we've seen at SB or BP over the last few years.

got to hand it to you guys - i used to do a lot of mountain biking on my kona but riding potentially 6-7 hours in the saddle there are back (76.3 miles) was normally classed as a days ride for me and that when i was doing that kind of thing every week! your unlikely to average much over 12mph.

i'll certainly donate!!

Yeah, we'd be setting off early and taking a steady speed. Hopefully take 4 to 5 hours each way (if we were to do it each way) and make a shed load of cash for a good cause.
