Gutted? This is a great deal for all involved, about the best we could have hoped for given the time remaining on his contract.

Those worrying about whether he will perform now he's not our player. If he doesn't,  Hurst will drop him without hesitation like any other player.

Doubt it will happen anyway. He loves to play, it's obvious watching him.

I'd also say that his medical situation will be well known by both clubs and if he needs an op, then so be it. That would be the case whoever holds his registration.

Pleased with the deal and whilst I am no fan of JF I don’t understand the constant criticism of his dealings with Peterborough re sales of Bennett and Dembele both of which ultimately gave us very reasonable sums of money when the players moved on. We may have been to get a slightly higher initial fee for both but we were a L2 club selling on potential not the finished article so I have no problem with what he achieved with those particular players.

However, this is probably as good a deal as we could get so fair play to all involved.

Stockwood has just been on Humberside, says the fee is not £500k, but it includes performance related add-ons and a sell-on. Interest was clear around a month ago. He was never going to sign another contract with us, so it's the best deal we can get. Some money is upfront.

Was the question asked if he who shall not be named is paid off?

Anyone gutted about this is on glue.

Cracking deal for literally everyone. He doesn’t sign an extension, felicitations off in the summer for buggerall and we dip out completely and he probably plays quite tentatively so as not to get injured. Now he’ll be out to prove he’s worthy of a first team place.

Luton get a player they clearly value. Town get a fee and the player for the remainder of the season.

Cracking deal all round and as someone pointed out, in the past we’d have been mugged off, Fenty would’ve got himself another refurbishment of his 1994 house, club would’ve seen intercourse all of the cash and we’d have a gaping hole where the player once was…may be a shite pre season friendly…

Luton would be a good club to work with and learn from though, since their new ownership and entering the league they’ve gone from strength to strength.

Makes you realise how far we’ve fallen though that we’re selling players to Luton and loaning them back. Reputation is everything though and if we gain respect for a being a club that are great to deal with its good again.

Mega deal all round…

Also says the debt will be cleared '18 months early' and 1878 have invested 'half a million' in the summer.

Still working hard on new signings.

I think Jason Stockwood's statement speaks volumes

“We obviously really wanted to keep John at Grimsby Town, and we offered him a new deal in the close season to get him on a longer contract. But John has ambitions to play at a higher level, and we respect that and didn’t want to stand in his way. We knew there was a good chance we’d probably end up losing John on a free at the end of the season, and so at least by letting him go now, the Club has been able to benefit from his transfer."

Regardless of him knowing he has the adoration of the fans, almost a God status, every single player has ambitions to play at a higher level, so who are we to stand in his way?

With Luton in the playoffs last season McAtee has effectively gone up 3 divisions.  Only strikers of the calibre of Vardy and Watkins usually do this.  Impressive, and McAtee is younger.
