I am surprised that after being regarded as lazy at Scunthorpe he can be bothered to even go to Luton and want to compete against good strikers for a first team place at a higher level.

I alluded to that a few days ago. Even suggested that as part of the deal we may get one in on loan, but I now doubt that as McAtee has gone and come back.

Mind you it would still be good to borrow another striker from their ranks

Didn't know he had already turned down an improved contract.
So although I am bitterly disappointed to lose him - to have the fee + add ons, him back for the season is a great deal as he was going anyway.
PH will have been aware of the pending sale & surely has already a striker lined up?
Not sure if JSF can call on the proceeds to "accelerate the repayment" as JM wasn't a town player 'till after JSF left?
Anyway rock on & bring on Northampton.

Matt Dean did ask Stockwood about this and he answered by complimenting Luton and showing interest in developing a relationship with them. Definitely wouldn't be surprised to see us loan a few of their players in the future.

I do think footballers can change for the better if given the right guidance and they have the desire. I remember reading about Lionel Messi at Barcelona when he was a youngster being led astray by Ronaldinho of all people eg nightclubs ,party's and late nights( it's why Barca in part got rid of him). Pep Guardiola I think it was had a good talk with Messi along the lines of buck your ideas up and start being more professional otherwise your talent won't be maximised. Messi to his credit took the right path and the rest is history.

This seems like a cracking deal.

They could call this type of transfer a 'Boris'

Gone but still here.

Great piece of business
He could have gone on a free at end of season so why not cash in?

Shame it's not been revealed for how much but I suspect 5/600k is not wide of mark; plus add ons; plus we get him back for rest of season

We do need to pull out stops though re: at least one more quality striker - surely Jason/PH must know we will struggle like hell without consistent goalscorers

It's my constant fear with GTFC - but not easily resolved when so many teams can offer better terms
