Gutted? behave yourself. Absolutely amazing piece of business from GTFC. No way did I expect him to be here next season. So to not only get some money for him we also get to keep him for the rest of the season. Absolutely brilliant.

Great deal for the club and a real no brainer. When McAtee didn't sign the deal we offered him he was always going to leave at the end of the season for free. And there is now a possibility Gy could be playing against him next season if we go up and Luton come down.

I think it’s a great deal really. Gives us the funds now to go out and bring in a couple of much needed top forwards which might have been financially out of reach otherwise, with a full year to plan for McAtee’s replacement.

We now have all the tools to finish off the squad with real intent. All the best to McAtee too, who has been an absolute joy to watch and hopefully will be for the next 9 months.

Or maybe more funds to pay off The Leech for good and remove the stench of rotten fish completely.

Brilliant… soon the biannual ‘Bogle returning???’ rumours shall be replaced with ‘McAtee is coming home’ rumours!

Absolutely shocked that we get to loan him for the rest of the season to be honest. I know that was rumoured but I couldn't see Luton doing that.

It essentially means we only actually lose him at the end of the season, when we would've done anyway, but have got a fee for him as opposed to him walking for nothing. That makes it a fantastic deal for us.

I don’t think the club would have done the deal without the loan back clause in all honesty.

I assume the season-long loan will be able to be cut short in January? That tends to be a thing.

It's a win-win for us though. We get money for him while we still can and we get him for the same amount of time had he stayed on his previous contract, provided they don't 'recall' him in Jan. Hopefully we can develop the squad sufficiently before he leaves.

Do you thnk Luton would have also insisted that by the time we have finished with him next spring he would have had to have his shoulder operation?

It's a good deal. The thing that makes it is getting him back on loan which is hugely unusual. Mcatee must have had some influence on that decision because he can't have pushed to fight for a spot in Luton's side.

This is incredibly good business by competent business people. Keep in mind that previously we would have lost the player but got a preseason friendly on a Tuesday night as a reward as well as a dubious sell on clause. This is the best possible scenario for all parties. Let’s hope it either pays F*nty off completely or is immediately reinvested in the current squad.
