Maybe the vote was only advisory 😗

The minority have rejected it so they will want another vote, and then another, and another until they think they have won fair and square. Suddenly the meaning of democracy has taken a different meaning by Democrats everywhere when it suits them.

I think the 'progressives' of the party base have finally run out of patience with the democrats in the same way many on the left ran out of patience with Labour

Their base wants less warmongering in the middle east, the president and Hillary have delivered more and continued selling weapons to the Saudis who are now bombing civilians in Yemen

The base wants an end to big money in politics and trade deals that outsource jobs - Hillary and Obama have continued it and both are pushing for TPP

The base wants action on climate change - Hillary has taken money from fracking companies and Obama approved arctic drilling by Shell.

The base wants an end to racial inequality - after eight years of Obama black Americans are still being disproportionately targeted in stop and search, disproportionately sent to jail for minor drug possession, in some places sent to jail for 'sagging pants' and still being murdered by trigger happy police with no consequence.

The base wanted healthcare that resembled what Europeans have, Obama gives them a law that forces them to buy insurance from private companies (albeit at cheaper prices and without the loopholes that some insurers were using to pay out).

The base wanted consequences for Wall Street in 2008 and the reinstatement of Glass Steagall regulations- Obama delivered the much weaker Dodd Frank while Hillary is in Wall Street's pocket and conceited with it

The base wanted Guantanamo closed - Obama, even when he had majorities didn't do it

you don't really believe that Trump is going to do anything about any of the above do you? one of the first things he's going to do is repeal Obamacare for example

Brexit wasn't a vote for change but a vote to undo the change. PS  It is nothing to do with being white, that is racism. It is not Brexit that is racist but the people in Remain who are just using it as a stigma. Remainers and Clinton fans stop spitting your dummies out and accept reality for once.

We're just sat waiting to say "told you so" when the results of the "change" becomes apparent. At the moment USA is the richest country in the world (by GDP), UK Is about 5th, from memory. If things are so terrible that we have to rip up the rulebook and start again then there is not much hope for anyone else.

Of course he won't fix these problems - but his candidacy was never reliant on policy substance (because he knew the mainstream media would never go after him on the nuts and bolts of say his tax policy in the same way they try to make a scandal about his political incorrectness). He managed to capture a mood in areas of high unemployment (the rust belt) in much the same way Farage captures a mood when he goes around deindustrialised Labour heartlands telling gullible people that all of their problems are caused by Europe and immigrants.

His presidency will be a disaster but the democrats have to learn from this result and put a proper progressive like Warren or Grayson up next time

Will he actually want to repeal Obamacare, however? If you're immediately taking health insurance away from around 25 million people, you're alienating a pretty big chunk of the electorate in one fell swoop. Despite the Republican idiocy about Obamacare, it has actually worked quite well.

Just a pity Obama didn't have the guts to force through a national health system such as our NHS when the Democrats held both the houses as well as the presidency.
