Retained list

The fact we only have to wait on one player agreeing to a new deal has to be considered a success compared to how we've operated in previous years?

It's a great starting point. Not sure PH will ever have put together an easier retained list. Just read first 16 replies to the club on Twitter and not one complaint, which I think speaks volumes.

For me, the biggest surprise in that retained list is the appearance related extension for Amos.

21 league appearances and 30 in total.  

Unless it was a really low bar to trigger the extension, you've got to presume that he hit it relatively recently.  

Our season effectively ended with the Brighton defeat, since which he's made 6 appearances.  I'm gonna guess those 6 appearances took him over the threshold.  

Maybe there is something in Glennon leaving...

No arguments on the retained list from me.  Emmanuel probably the surprise for some, I know a lot of people think it's part of an agreement with Hull but I can't see them wanting him back there.  He was at his best for them two years ago in League One.  They've got aspirations for promotion next season.   Won't be surprised if he ends up back here over the summer.

Have to say I expected Amos to go, though I suspect like most I was unaware of any automatic extension in place. I have no issues with that, he’s been a good servant these last 18 months, but it doesn’t leave a whole lot of scope to improve at left-back assuming there are no plans to move either Amos or Glennon on. Unless there are, of course.

Also slightly surprised we’ve not offered anything to Emmanuel. Whatever you make of his recent performances his pedigree is certainly above League Two-level. Perhaps it’s something that was never on the cards or he’s already sorted something out elsewhere.

The rest is as expected.

Most seem to see a fit Emmanuel as better than League 2. They’re probably right but I’d love him to be starting next season as a Mariner.

Whilst he's struggled for most of this season, I thought Taylor deserved a send-off yesterday.  

He was integral last season and I personally would rather have had the opportunity to give him a round of applause in the final minutes than Mikey O'Neill.

Wasted money? Probably.

Glennon and Amos are still both only 23, got some room to improve further. I’m more than happy to have them both as our left back options again next season.

Hurst confirmed previously that we did not pay a fee. That was misreported, albeit by the club’s own media channels.

I'm pretty sure Hurst confirmed that we didn't pay anything up front. I imagine fees came into it if we signed him permanently or got promoted.
