Unfortunately there is someone somewhere who finds something unacceptable in absolutely anything and everything that is shouted in today's world
Translated… These days you can’t even say something racist/sexist/homophobic without being called racist/sexist/homophobic. And here’s an example of the main excuse tactic- deflecting blame. It’s all the fault of the person who’s offended for being too sensitive. It comes from the same play book as blaming female sexual assault/rape victims for bringing it on themselves by how they were dressed or for having been drinking. It’s BS.

The ‘you can’t say anything these days’ defence has always made me chuckle…
You can literally say anything so long as you’re not a girl private…

@No one has the right not to be offended”… teach that in schools and the world would be a better place in 20 years, if climate change hasn’t killed us all that is😂
“No one has the right not to be offended”?!?! Sorry, what? I mean, even considering your usual literary style, that’s incredibly well constructed, but what, the actual f*** are you talking about?

They’ve cancelled Christmas….
Christmas was cancelled decades ago when retailers found they could make very good profits out of the occasion.

I don’t think even he knows what he’s on about. Straight from the Reactionaries Playbook, “we give you phrases to copy and paste so you don’t have to think”. [Lights blue touch paper, and stands back to admire the Purple Apoplectic]

So if you were gay you’d be happy to hear comments where homosexuality was used as an insult?
No of course I wouldn't but you already know that. My point was in relation to the length and diversity of comments on this thread. You inferred that it would be much shorter and to the point if we knew exactly what was (allegedly) said I pointed out that the number of football related chants, comments, shouts which might offend someone was so wide these days and potentially goes far beyond racism and homosexuality (both of which still appear in the title of this thread as possibilities from Saturday incidentally) . For years and years players, referees in particular, opposition fans and on occasion some of our own fans have been referred to as 'fat illegitimate' which might well upset some. The possibilities of offending are endless. We now have a Ryley Towler chant seen as possibly offensive (I don't know what it is or why) The term ' homosexual' is not one which I or many fans of my age would ever think of using as a homosexual reference and some might not even realise its possible inference. Personally speaking in my day p*** and h*** was (wrongly we now accept) in day to day use. Just because it isn't blatantly racist or homophobic doesn't mean someone somewhere isn't hurt and offended, thats all

No. I was saying that the thread wouldn’t be 20-odd pages long if people were prepared to accept that someone did say something offensive to one of the players, that he took such offence at, that he made the effort to notify the officials and his manager, and that our players also reacted to it. Instead we get these pointless rearguard actions. It’s 2021 not 1971. Accept it and move on.

Head and brick wall I am afraid. I can't understand the refusal to accept the overwhelming evidence that a Grimsby fan made such comments. Well, I can understand it actually.

Even if you do hold Bernard Manning era views on race etc, it’s probably best to keep them internalised for the sake of the club.
Look at the mess Yorkshire Cricket Club have got themselves into. If you care about our club you’ll make sure we are not put in the position of sponsors distancing themselves and potential investment being pulled.
