It is unlikely that this is a takeover by one person, it looks to me to be more like the Ramsden ownership with a front man than a Fenty/Ashley direct type ownership. The chairman many not even be the owner. These people employ people to do the day job of running the business, so I’d expect also a proper chief exec to be an early appointment.

By the way, the correct spelling of the name in Old Grimbarian is Schutseseses.

If I had to put money on it I’d say the opposite. Leaked by either Fenty or one of his minions to try and hurry Tom Shutes up. Both Fenty and the board statement are playing up the fact that there’s loads of interest. Almost like they’re trying to panic Shutes into concluding matters with the threat of him missing out.

There does seem to be an element of the above in that. The thing about that fit and proper test though is bog standard, and JF would not go out and say we've sold to any old Tom, male private or Harry without doing so as it would then leave him open to even greater scrutiny.

Am reasonably happy with the way things appear to be going. There's nothing wrong being said by either party, and if JF is close to going he's not going to spoil it all by being controversial, is he? And breathe......
