I was thinking only the other day about how we managed to be so dire in that game and season in general.
Seven of the starting eleven that night were relatively or in some case very well seasoned in the second tier; Aidan Davison, Jason Crowe, Simon Ford, Darren Barnard, Paul Groves, Stuart Campbell and Michael Boulding.

Also in the squad for much of that season were John McDermott, Alan Pouton, Stacy Coldicott and Phil Jevons. The core of the squad wasn't anywhere near as appalling as the performances it produced. I probably remember that season more for the late influx of disinterested journeymen like Iffy Onoura, Paul Warhurst, Jamie Lawrence and John Thorrington, not to mention the laughing stock that was Mickael Antoine-Curier - the fact is we should never have been in the position where we needed to do that kind of panic buying.

I guess it was just the force of downward momentum on the club at the time; the atmosphere must have been pretty toxic with the fresh stench of the ITV Digital collapse lingering in the background. I do wonder what might have been if we'd been able to stabilise at that level though...

..nah, I take that back. We'd have found a way to fúck it up regardless.

We were actually on top for the first 20 ish  mins (?) or so and just completely collapsed when the first goal went in. Bizarre night and one of those that actually got so bad it was almost funny. The "shall we go now" question was asked but it was decided "no lets see just see how many they will get"

Pouton getting injured in pre-season was huge. By having Disco in his place, we had about 3.834432% of AP's drive.

It's easy to forget that we actually signed Disco Des twice. The first time was on deadline day a few months earlier, when we picked him up on loan with antagonistic Preston midfielder Michael Keane, only for us to subsequently realise that we'd signed more players on loan than we were allowed to.

I am sometimes over-cynical but I could not help thinking at half time last night that someone, somewhere, probably in the Far East, was making a fortune out of a bet on this scoreline.

“If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.”

Full time....Birmingham 1-1 Charlton

Survival just got a little bit harder tonight for Hull after Charlton picked up a point at Birmingham.

Could've been worse, Birmingham equalised in injury time.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”
