I understand that they can produce switching equipment for the grid which doesn't use SF6. Probably more expensive, which is why they don't, but something which could be legislated for.

yeah, that's what all those wind turbines are for.

To an extent, but not really a technology suitable on its own to produce the year round base load needed. A big help though.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

She just doesn’t seem genuine, that’s all. I shouldn’t have said a bl##dy word.

And what makes you say she's not genuine? A lot more genuine than all the middle aged male journo's peddling the oil industry's line. Really shameful that grown men, and otherwise intelligent men, should be so scared of a little girl that they have to come up with such pathetic play-ground statements.

If that was your bl##dy word. I agree with you - you shouldn't have said it.

See you at the Oil Baron's Ball!

Not all green energy is GREEN or safer than CO2 have you heard of SF6 gas

Applications
SF6 finds application in the following areas, though some of these areas are now being covered by other gases:

* Production of electrical equipment (Utilities (use of electrical equipment - refilling, leakages compensation, accidents; use in accelerators for scientific and/or military purposes)

* Adiabatic properties applications, notably in tennis balls, shoe soles and in truck tyres.

* Electronics industry – SF6 is used by the semiconductor industry for plasma etching prior to Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD).

And the downside…
Its applications aside, SF6 is a highly potent greenhouse gas. It has a global warming potential (GWP) 23,900 times greater than that of CO2 and an atmospheric life of 3,200 years.

As recently as 2002, industry released 600 metric tons of SF6 into the atmosphere – the equivalent of 3,103,896 passenger cars driven for a year, or the burning of 72,866 railcars of coal.

SF6 is also a product that presents a double-edged sword. Indispensable for the safe transmission of electrical power, yet due to its global warming potential, it represents a longer-term problem if used carelessly.

It's used in the radar system of the E3 Sentry as well. Loads of the stuff. It leaks like a seive so needs to be topped up all the time. Might be why they don't fly them very often any more. Brings a whole new meaning to burning holes in the sky.
It's good gear. Makes you talk like Barry White if you breathe it in. Does kill you a bit though. As it's more dense than air, it settles in the lungs and causes a phenomena called dry land drowning. You can't replace it by breathing normally so have to invert yourself to get rid of it! Don't ask me how I know this.

I agree with you, my ‘joke’ wasn’t funny and it was in bad taste. I’ve made my apology.

Can we talk about some football now?

Yes please.

Sorry for sense of humour bypass. Just had it up to here [holds hand at head height] with ruddy-faced right-wing journos on the subject and mad mates sending memes of swearing cockneys.

Looking at Google satellite images, if you demolished the decrepit ice factory and closed Gorton Street, then just a small amount of infill would be required.

The brick façade of the ice factory has some aesthetic value. It would be good if that could be incorporated into a new stadium:
