In my time as a director of a small company any excess funds at the end of the tax year were pretty much all used up acquiring assets to avoid giving a large chunk of it to taxman.

As do I, I either invest into pension funds or equity, dependant on how the market is predicted to perform...
But regardless of where I have invested my money I still have to show this on my balance sheets at year end...so if my investments haven't performed well it can look as though I have a negative net worth at the time of my accountants being released to companies house, so when I used the same website I always use, of which you have to pay for to get access to, it shows T Schutes net worth of -£2.3m which would mean he would find it hard to borrow money against his assets through mainstream lenders unless he has a sleeping partner who will either lend him the funds to purchase club directly or against his assets, which I suspect at the moment is where the hold up is...purely conjecture on my part obviously.

Thought the initial consensus was that Shutes was the front man but there was another backer who has the readies. Sure all will become clear at some stage in the future.

You don't need to be an expert to understand that business people like Tom Shutes don't want to pay a penny more tax than they have to and that the way they set up businesses is done with that in mind.

I don't think it is just business men that don't want to pay a penny more tax than they have to.

That must be where I have gone wrong then, like all honest people I have always paid the tax I owe.

Why would you want to pay more tax than you have to? Doesn't make you a crook, every accountant in the land will try and save you paying out wherever can. Plenty of tax is still paid.
