I could lock this thread. But there might be no news for weeks or even months. A similar thread would doubtless materialise during that time. Best thing is just to not update it unless there is news then it will naturally drift away. Nothing like a game to talk about and we've got one soon, then a few more.

I for one am thankful for Fenty initially saving us, hindsight is great seeing how other clubs played the system and are now in a much stronger place - but would little ole Grimsby have been afforded the same leeway?

I wouldn't want to wind back the clock and find out.

The potential Bury situation shows us that no matter how desperate the last decade or two have been, it better than having no club at all.

It would have been nice for Fenty to have gifted us the cash like other chairmen do, or like Mike Parker did then we could have been on a more level playing field able to compete with a clean slate. But that was the only offer we had on the table at the time, we didn't have much choice but to accept.

As an 'out and out' supporter like himself I wouldn't want to see my club hamstrung with a perennial benign weight on its shoulder but that's his choice. It is what it is sadly.

Without such mismanagement as what we've endured it perhaps wouldn't have been such an issue.

If Fenty gifted us the money then we would have had to pay tax on as it would be classed as earnings, it losing a significant part of it. By calling it a loan we don't have to pay any tax on it.

We'd create another one, after all this a GTFC fans forum, a place to drivel on, pass on rumours or counter rumours, vent spleen, get excited or speak of anything GTFC related we want within the framework of free speech which as a free country we can do. So long as no legal lines are crossed all is well.

I seem to remember an 'enough is enough', 'time to take a stand' massive groundswell of opinion around the end of last season, so I think things are pretty chilled in comparison as the Town fans continue to be reasonably patient.
