Yarborough United disbanded around that time to become the Submarine pub.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

In my younger days I spent a few weekends away with the RAF U23 Development Squad. We had a fixture against England Schoolboys at Lilleshall and at the time Chris Smalling was playing at that level. I only found out a few years later and I've never been able to find out if he was actually playing in that game, but if he was then it might make things much more understandable why I was absolutely shocking that day.

Also played for an Inter-Services team in the Falklands in 2018 against an England C / FA Representative team. Paul Fairclough was manager but it wasn't quite the National League level players, mainly made up of level below NLN/S. The keeper was an ex-Swindon pro (Leigh Bedwell), which in my logic makes me ex-pro level having scored twice in the game!

Had a quick check of a few names the other day and a few are playing NLN/S now. Charlie Ruff at Havant and Waterlooville, Ibrahim Olatude who's now playing alongside Ira Jackson Jr at Folkestone, Mitchell Parker at Weymouth, Alex Brown who went to Chester from Boston and Sam Ashford, who made 29 appearances for Crawley and now plays for Ayr United.

I played five-a-side against Peter Bore just after he got released by Lincoln, he was blowing out of his arsë after 5 minutes which made me feel reassured about my lack of fitness.

Played with Paul Goodhand who was a first year pro at the turn of the millennium, if that is the standard of player that didn't make it in the game...

Played in the same kid’s team as Danny North & Pete Bore before they joined town - Bore was a prolific forward & Northy a decent defender before Neil Woods got his hands on them! Used to play 5-a-side against Dave Smith pretty regularly down at Matty Humberstone & saved one of his pens once.

Played in a veterans match against a team containing Colin Hendry, Gavin McCaan & Trevor Sinclair. Colin Hendry was much smaller than I thought he would be. Also had a kick about with Lee Ashcroft about 10 years ago - quite fat but amazingly skilful.

Was it Bryn Jones who was the manager, that name rings a bell.

Played in the school team with Matthew Bloomer and also fancied his Mum. Scored a penalty against Steve Sherwood in some sort of pay a quid to take penalties against Steve Sherwood charity event.
