All before they were well known:

Played in same team as Terry Donovan and against Kevin Drinkell when in 6th form at Matthew Humberstone. We won but I remember Drinkell waltzing all around our team to score a goal

Played cricket against Tony Ford at Wintringham School - he hit me out of the ground for 6!

Worked at same petrol station as Glenn Cockerill for awhile.

With over 30yrs of playing Sunday league under my belt ...just about everyone locally 😆

A young Chris Hargreaves before he signed for Town for Freetime i think....and an old Kenny Sharpe who had been at Ipswich in the late 70's for LOR maybe.
Couldn't get near Hargreaves for pace...couldn't get near Kenny as he was 3 or 4 yds in his head quicker.
Made the mistake of sizing him up before the game and thinking easy morning here against that old barrell up front...couldn't have been more wrong 😄

I played in the Army(Cyprus) team against the Cyprus National side back in 1973 during a 2 year tour there.  Oh and just remembered, played with Merfyn Jones, Welsh professional footballer who played for Scunthorpe, Crewe and Chester.  Played one match with him for Barton Town reserves back in the '60s, where he played on the left wing, and I was Centre Forward.  He dropped 3 perfect crosses onto my head for me to score a hattrick of headers.  I also played against Southampton when they were invited to our Barracks for a day out, shooting, driving Army vehicles etc.  Lawrie Mac was the Manager at that time, which was in the 70's, cannot remember the exact year.  The only player I can remember in that side was Mick Shannon.

Not football but did play competitive Cricket against Abdul Qadir.Played golf with Don Givens. Also played against Terry Donovan in the back garden

Gary Lund at school and on Edward school field a lot. In the same U13/14 side as Andy Moore I was sh1t and believe it or not he was probably the 3rd or 4th best player.

During the 50's and 60's I played against a number
of  ex pros including Tommy Briggs, Arnie Walker,
Albert Stokes  ( that's one for the real oldies ) Willie
Purvis, to name just a few.

The best I ever played with competitively, by far,
was Jimmy Fell. That was at Clee and when you
gave the ball to Jim you could almost guarantee
a goal.

In later years I played against two up and coming
lads, namely Emson and McKenzie, and a little
Irish bloke called Waters would come and join in
our training at Tetney.

Just played against Chris Hargreaves, who was in the year above me at school. I think we had a 4th year vs 5th year game for some reason or other.

David Soames , Mansaram , Kirk Wheeler For Towns youth team  who all went on to play for the first team i think  ,sure there were some more .
Michael Tonge - i was at sheff utd from under 14 to 16
He was pretty good .

Retired at 19 not good enough + beer
