As you can see we started off the decade with excellent attendances when we came within a whisker of being the first team ever to go from Division 4 to Division 1 in successive seasons (a feat that has still not been done, and I doubt ever will). Gates gradually decreased as we got progressively worse until our double relegation but then picked up again when we won promotion from Division 4 in 1989/90 and was 7,237 the following season when we won a 2nd successive promotion.
