Chris Dagnall, good player but no ,not at 31. We need to look to the future.

At 31 I would expect him still to have at least 3 good seasons left him provided he has looked after himself. Using this criteria would have meant not signing Futcher, Birtles, Whymark, Chris Nicholl et al who all did pretty good jobs in a town shirt.

McSheffrey anyone?

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

i really don't think we're going to begetting experienced players in, especially with the wage rates that people like mcshefferyetc will be commanding.
imho it's going to be promising youngsters who were unfortunate to be released by clubs higher up the pyramid

We can't afford to risk one of our limited spots on a promising youngster who is a striker. If we are to get within striking distance of the playoffs we have to be sure at least one player who will knock in a good return of goals.

I think it'll be a mixture. He'll get in an experienced striker, I wouldn't be surprised to see an experienced central midfielder and if he doesn't sign Collins again then he'll get an experienced centre back. Possibly an experienced keeper too. Then he'll pad out the squad and the wide positions with young, hungry players who have a bit of pace.

Pretty sure we signed some guy called Craig Disley just before he turned 31 too. Would've been 31 at the beginning of that season i believe.

That is what I would do. Sensible approach.

Andy Williams made available, always thought he was a decent striker

I always thought he was a good singer.
