Sold out at 3pm, and we won't recieve any more tickets, pretty daft when we have the potential to fill seats that will otherwise be empty

Looks like myself and quite a few others are going in the Lincoln end, talk about not making it safe! Bet the ground won't even be half full, can't wait to get out of this tin pot league with these tin pot teams, so we can actually go to the games in our own end.

i just think they would rather not pay for the extra police if they gave us an extra 700 tickets or so. They wouldn't be able to handle it security wise. What do you think?

I personally wouldn't do it, but unless you go in there wearing a Town shirt, or start chanting and celebrating if Town score, I think you'd be alright.  It's stupid that were even having this discussion mind, there's plenty of room.

I have some family that are Lincoln fans, gonna sit with them, pretty sure that as long as you don't sing or cheer when town score their fourth goal well be alright, not as if they're going to quiz you on you're way in. Be a shame not to be in the town end though.

It is sad that town fans cannot get into Sincil Bank, what happened to the age old unwritten rule that Grimsby always had an home fixture on Boxing day for the fishermen being home. I appreciate our fishing has declined into oblivion but tradition still as a big part to play in society, maybe next year the club could approach the fixture organisers  of whatever league we are in to request this.

It does seem an odd move, maybe they're geting hardened to the BSP and think that if it goes like last year (outsung, outplayed) it'll be like a home game for Town again and they'll get beaten again? Two can play that game, give them just the corner on NYD, they moan like f**k about BP at the best of times, why not give them something to grumble about. Pack BP with Town fans and let rip and and let's march on up that table.

I know people who did it last year and it's marginally better than not been there at all. No fun if you can't celebrate when we score.

I have done it once at Forrest and ended up moving in to the Town end at half time.

Just read this on their forum.
"Just been told by my mate who's a Grimsby fan that Lincoln fans going need to be careful as he said it's doing the rounds that they are going to kick off. They are not happy about tickets given to them for the boxing day game and plan to start."
lol, they can use this as another bullshit excuse not to come.

By the time Town score the 4th goal the Gimps, will all be on the way home.

Sounds like to me they are excrement stirring to put a blocker on another 250 - 500 Town fans getting tickets if they get knocked out by Mansfield tonight.

Just goes to show our country cousins that they can not match our support either in numbers or vocally but at excrement stirring and bullshit excuses they win hands down.

Its a really crazy decision, put it this way, the people who go to these matches to 'kick off' are not season ticket holders, therefore you'll find the sensible town fans penned into the corner of the co-op stand, meanwhile those who do go to fight are gonna turn up and end up amongst the gimp fans, including those innocent ones with kids etc.

Could be a real disaster, hope the trouble causers do stay away, but unless they make it all-ticket, I think they'll turn up.

Couldn't have put it better myself.  These flimsy measures put in place to 'stop trouble' are if anything, going to cause problems rather than prevent them.  Surely any idiot can realise they stand much more chance of controlling the minor amount of idiot Town fans in ONE controlled area, rather than scattered unknown all over the place?!

I really cant see the stewards kicking fans out unless they are missbehaving, especially if theres a large group of them. Stuff like this has been going on for years, look at all the geordies in the town end when they were promoted all them years ago. Just gotta be sensible about it, sit with some mates in case you get rumbled and just 'KEEP YA NUT DAAAN!'

15,000 plus there when we played that infamous match in 71-2, with upwards of 5,000 Town fans there.

Wait till tonight, if they lose, they'll give us more tickets. They'd be mad not to, I reckon we could easily shift at least another 500 and it would be turning away easy money.

A lot of FOOTBALL FANS go to games as a neutral, I myself go to see Grantham Town occasionally and often cheer all good play and all goals irrespective of which team scores.  So how can they prove that you are a Town Fan just because you applaud when (not if) Town score, you can claim to be a FOOTBALL FAN just taking in a festive game!

Lincoln claim it is against ground regulations for an away fan to enter a home stand, I very much doubt that. The will be Town Fans in the Main Stand (Director, officials and freebees etc). I would also suggest that there will be families in attendance with both Town and City fans sitting together.

The club actually request an away fixture Boxing Day .....mainly becasue so many go to Market Rasen races they never get the crowds they use to ....so they hope the race goers come to other home games over xmas period

Whilst I know the police cost a few quid surely the price is small for the extra revenue it will actually bring in.

They would find it difficult to eject people that aren't doing anything wrong. As already said, many people go to games as a neutral, aslong as they don't jump up and down when the team scores there's very little they can do.

If this is purely down to Lincoln just not wanting to give us more tickets then sod em, we could give them a block of seats in the osmand and it would be too many.

I'll be in one of the Lincoln stands just keeping stump! Not because I'm a Lincoln fan, knowing that they are going to get a lashing, but because I missed out in the proper seats!

I will learn to be organised one day, but until then, I'm a tw@t

Looks like myself and quite a few others are going in the Lincoln end, talk about not making it safe! Bet the ground won't even be half full, can't wait to get out of this tin pot league with these tin pot teams, so we can actually go to the games in our own end.

Bit ironic when both teams have been football league grounds for decades. Blame the Taylor Report if you want to complain about capacity.

I may be wrong but I would think that the vast majoriy of Lincoln fans would not want to cause a problem to anyone who was in the home end celebrating a town goal. Likewise the majority of Grimsby fans would not want to cause any problems for Lincoln fans. It's a game not a boxing match. I just want to go see a good game, take three points off them and come home with no trouble. Why are we even talking about it ?

If my best friend was a Lincoln fan and tried to jump up and down next to me celebrating I would beat him to death with a half cooked hotdog from the catering vans at BP no matter what the cost of the illegitimate hotdog.

Or you could inflict more pain and make him eat the hotdog...

Town requested an extra 600 tickets but turned down as they don't want us behind the goal. They might aswell give us the full side stand as if I remember correctly last year it was full of wannabe Danny dyers aged 13!

Actually remembering from last year I think it was our 13 year old Danny Dyers who moved from the side stand to behind the goal pushing it beyond capacity and many were stood in the walkway at the front of the stand and encroached onto the pitch... So I suppose LCFC can put it down to that, however I still think they are asking for more trouble by not making it all-ticket.

Obviously disappointed i couldn't get a ticket for this due to them not putting them on general sale. I suspect that contrary to what's been said on the OS i expect more tickets to be available over the next couple of weeks.

Mansfield away is looking like my "local" away day now, hopefully be a decent number there as well.

I've sat in the Bobby Moore stand and cheered as Laws scored vs WHUFC. Got a few funny looks from some particularly scary Hammers, but intercourse em all cos we are from Grimsby. Go in the home end vs Gimps, behave yourselves and they can't do a thing.

Batch, Crombie, Moore K, Wiggington, Cumming, Waters, Bonnyman, Ford, Emson, Drinkell, Whymark. Love you all, You are the reason I'm on here. You've had help from Todd, Handyside, Futcher P, Groves, Mendonca, Macca etc etc etc. Up The Mariners!!!!!!!!!

If anyone does go in their home end, imagine the scene if it was reversed and a Gimps fan was celebrating a Gimp goal (unlikely, I know) in the Pontoon....
Not saying don't go, just be sensible. If you want to watch the game, not get stoved in and watch the game, be discrete!

Why do people over react. Come on folks lets not give the two liaison officers anything to get excited over.

There has not been much trouble in the ground between both sets of fans since that day we was humiliated and that kicked off when we wasn't allowed to leave once the 4th goal went in!

Last season was pretty calm, though we did have a few hard core and their kids got upset when we took the lead "Sit down and behave yourselves" was sang towards them hehe

if you are going in the home end to just be genuine and support Grimsby then go in the small stand behind the goal? You'll be able to celebrate the goal because hardly any lincoln fans go in there and the one's that do all seem like OAP's or just normal people. All the trouble would be behind the goal and the stand we are sharing if Town go in there, stay out of the home end of those and you'd be fine

Luke good luck town i might venture in the home end, just to be at the match but trust me GTFC need a hard look at how they give tickets out for away games i agree with ST first but my next door neighbour got 12 tickets for 1 season ticket yet people like me miss out as i have not missed a game since Hyde away ?? good policy ! fair play to ST holders take advantage but ... shame on the club

you'd have thought ST holders would have sorted out the lads they sit near who are there every week? either way, however the club does it, there will always be someone unhappy.

Agreed but think a different way how many ( and i know you used to go every week Luke) going to Lincoln have their Ebbsfleet ticket still or where at Hyde .. ? not many i guess it's a shame i will be at Lincoln regardless as under the football ground act they can not remove any fan without them causing an offence but a big shame never the less !

Anyway hope work is going ok pal

I had no sympathy when I nearly didn't get a Newcastle ticket. I hadn't missed a home game in yonks and went to most away games.....I did Cheltenham on a Friday night not long before we played the Toon as well.

We will get more tickets I am sure, as police will not want Town fans wondering around outside or at the Top of the city for various reasons.

I had to go in with the Barnet fans when we played (and beat) them before going to Burton.

I did get quizzed quite a bit by the steward but managed to say I was a Gainsborough fan and as our season had finished this was an interesting game to go to.

I didn't celebrate the first goal, it was pretty cool to see the other three stands, packed to the rafters, erupt.

Couldn't hold it in for the second though and got put in the Main stand a long with most of the row I was sat with that were giving me the 'you aren't Barnet' look throughout the match haha!

Funniest part is that I ended up being on the BBC Barnet news with my hand across my face with the caption 'Nervy Times of Barnet'. The hand was there because I was smiling as Town had recently scored.

Oh and the chap in front had come with the directors but liked sitting in the stand. He took me under his wing and told me all about the plight of Barnet as well as Grimby's season.
He was rather shocked when I got up and walked into the Main stand. I did apologise mind.

You're right Flash, unless they all ask for the same area of the ground which would be hilarious if they decide to celebrate!

Lincoln have got an option, don't give more tickets and end up with possibly hundreds of Town fans dotted all over the ground with the potential of it causing offence and trouble or they give us more tickets so they can police the situation easier.

I just hope they open more turnstiles than they did for the trophy game. One does not like to queue!

Well, it's a bit annoying for us exiles as boxing day is one of the few times a year we all get back together to watch a game. Infact it's the only time of the year. The population of Grimsby must swell by several thousand over christmas, it'd be loads better if we had a home game. felicitations sake.

Ive gone in the home end a few times watching town away and never really had any bother .There was loads of us went in the home end at QPR in a midweek cup game about 92 time and we made it clear where we was from.also did the same against Scarborough in the late 80s.

Me and a mate went in the massive old Wolves home end when town was doing well years ago.I think it was the time when we had Dave Beasants in goal for us and town sold all the tickets for the away end .I could see a couple of my mates in the town end the other side of the fence ,They was shouting at me all game and I had to pretend I didnt know them

As I said on previous topic I will be in home end with another 4 town fans. My mate who is Lincoln fan will get tickets. I know most of the older guys in the LTE so no doubt will take some flak if I see them but life is too short to miss this match... anyway I am now getting to an age where I am too old to both with. Remember the 71/72 game with half-tim epitch invasion by twon fans with the resulting injuries to poor old Bonzo's backside, but I was 16 then.

Will be well behaved and hopefully smirk my way through the game as win another 3 points

Calvin Andrew...hahahaha...i very much doubt it. That was Cohen and his afterburners in full effect.....can only remember Calvin scoring one....away at Barnet .....very start of the second half.......long punt and looping header over the keeper.

The Gary Cohen Goal, when he ran from the halfway line - or was it Calvin Andrew?

It was Cohen, he gave the defender a 5 yard head start too....Town never deserved to win that game 3-0, we mugged them and they got their revenge though

Calvin Andrew...hahahaha...i very much doubt it. That was Cohen and his afterburners in full effect.....can only remember Calvin scoring one....away at Barnet .....very start of the second half.......long punt and looping header over the keeper.

Me too, they were top of the league and were giving it and chanting, even though the season was still fairly young.

Was a comfortable away win from what I remember
