Doesn't the trust exist for moments like these?

i think the supporters trust folded  when tarka  left them ..

The Trust now had its moment but couldnt get anywhere in the end.Whenever this is brought up they blame everyone but themselves.

No it didn't and I didn't leave them...I left the Board for personal reasons centred on the break up of my marriage.

There is still a Board in existance and the Trust still owns 20,000 shares.  Sadly, though, there wasn't the appetite to move on from that position and a number of Board members lost heart.

So whats going to happen now they might be needed
PS the way some were reacting when it was set up they LOST heart then as I stated at the time a trust was not going to work because its ok owning shares but having no financial back up with the shares the Club were going to take them serious and thats happened as well

Well if you subscribe to the notion that a sugar daddy is obligatory to running a football club then you are probably right.  The only problem comes when (as the events of yesterday may yet prove) the sugar daddy loses the will to go on.

And, by the way, the Club took us perfectly seriously as I'm sure JF would testify....sadly some of the fans didn't.

So is there a list of shareholders in GTFC?
MP = 54%
what does 20,000 shares equate to? 4% based on 500,000 shares? Not sure what the number of shares available are? Or have been issued?
So that puts JF at 42% at best, but then there are other shareholders I assume, PF & co 500 each, any other significant shareholders?

Im sat here waiting for the Trust to try and get involved and whats the point of being and paying into a Trust thats doing nothing isnt that taking money by false representation for memberships

No, we don't.  Although I spoke to JF last night he told me little that hasn't been published.  As for the Board most live out of town and when I rang the Chair last night she hadn't heard the news.

I said that fron day 1 and even because it was the truth I was even accused of slander and libel and accused that the idea didnt work because of people reading my views on it.

Well I can't argue with you there Wrawbs but the positive thing is that the organisation is still there, it is organised within a legal framework and if, God forbid, the worst came to the worst the fans would take an interest again.  The problem (if you can call it that) was that people always assumed that JF would bail us out and whilst that was the case never saw the need for supporter involvement.  Maybe that will be the case again...or maybe MP will become the benefactor.  Who knows?

What I meant was, If the fans put some weight behind the trust instead of letting it fester, maybe they could make a difference.

Maybe re-launching and re-branding the Trust might do it some good?

possibly wrawbz but with apathy reigning and interest and passion for the club at an all time low, this would probably be the worst possible time to do such a thing. the best thing for the trust is unfortunately the worst thing for the club (i.e. the club would be on the verge of collapse before supporters would rally to the trust)

In fairness that has been the case with every Trust that has ever taken off.  Sad but true.

agreed .the other point to make is that in all likelihood it wouldn't be the fans or trust who would save the club (the debts involved nowadays, even at our level, are just too big) ; it would be the trust backing another wealthy businessman who came in with the majority of the money neede to rescue the club

Forgive me if i've missed something but what are the trust supposed to blame themselves for? At the end of the day they are actively trying to be involved and are entitled to be disappointed at the lack of backing from so called fans. I myself are not in the trust for my own reasons but i give credit to those who are involved and who do care about the running of the club.

There was never a lot of point to the trust when Fenty made every decision. With an uncertain future it may be that fans have a greater say in running the club. Given all the disagreement on here and the factions we all tend to divide into it's hard to imagine how it would ever work.

The trouble with all of this is that for years the vast majority of fans wanted nothing to do with the Trust. I know for a fact that the Trust board have been looking for interested parties to join and help move the body forward. Unfortunately none were forthcoming and as Tarka says some of the real stalwarts lost interest.
It is sad that it is only now that the club is seemingly "threatened" that general interest in the Trust is stimulated. Sad but not unexpected. I'm not sure from your previous posts whether you are indeed a member. If you are then how about putting yourself forward as an activist. If not then the phrase "Put up or shut up" comes readily to mind.
