thought it was about time for the annual 'How many season tickets will we sell?' thread

Bit more interest this year with the new regime, the slightly underwhelming package plus the fact we haven't been able to go to BP for the last 15 months.
Be useful to know what the season ticket sales have been for, say, the last 5 years, plus have you always been able to buy the season tickets on line, like this present offering?

Finally who will win - the Fentyistas (think it was Filipe or PP) who said that there won't be any increase in sales (and maybe even a decrease due to relegation) , or those who said there were hundreds of fans willing to come back once Fenty had gone ( i think someone, rather over opitimistically imho, reckoned we might get 5000!)?

I just hope that Boris doesnt keep putting lockdown restrictions back and back again now that its back to 'at least 19th July'. Only need one more and itll be eating into the beginning of next season!

It would be nice to see a full season of matches again

I think we will sell about the same as the last 'normal season' but think aslong as we start fairly well the attendances will be higher.. Would love to see 5k+ every week. Dare I say 6k.

I didn't say there won't be an increase, although I doubt it will be significant if there is, especially with the prices for new ones. What I said was that there won't be thousands of extra people at BP every week like quite a lot of posters have said. I think a lot of people will wait until the next covid announcement has happened, by which time the feel good factor and momentum will be a far less significant impact than if they put them on sale within a week or two of taking over.

Vehicle reversing. Dee-dot. Vehicle reversing.

I’ll stick my neck out and say above 3000 at least matching the best under the Old Regime in the past decade.

Waiting for my pack to arrive, if anyone has theirs yet .....does it include any info  in the event of covid interrupting the season?
Also, have not seen it clarified anywhere but do we know if we are even going to be allowed to "fill the ground " or are we still going to be on social distance and bubble arrangements ?

If Doris can't tell us, Moosey, you can't expect Town to know what to tell us.

One thing I do know is that football will be the very last thing to be allowed to return to normal,

I think we’ll struggle to sell 3000, especially given the uncertainty caused by COVID and the 20 years of failure people have had to tolerate
A couple of big signings, a good pre-season and some clarity over COVID will help big time

Not arsed how many we sell. People who haven’t had one beige will possibly point at the price and then Covid will be a reason for many.

Let’s face it; with a government making it up and not giving a toss so long as they can have their champagne parties why would they care about football crowds.

I think we could probably shift a similar amount to the previous proper season.

If people do not buy a season they will buy a ticket for every home game if we start winning games on a regular basis.

Which we will.

You mean like this:

https://amp.theguardian.com/fo.....inal-and-semi-finals

Tennis tournament allowed to have full capacity at final. Football  final at 50%. So we know if there’s another wave it’ll be the fault of posh people.

Singing and chanting has been proven to be a huge factor in transmission. Don't get much of that at a tennis match.

Wearing a mask was meant to lessen the odds of catching/passing on yet seven not worn them once at school and had only one outbreak, from a staff member who ‘caught it’ elsewhere…

If the G7 was anything to go by I think we all know why tennis has larger crowds…

Unless they have a virus lab in the school every outbreak is going to start with someone catchjng it elsewhere.

You missed my point…like any virus it can be caught anywhere and via a number of ways. Suggesting singing and chanting increase that is ridiculous…we’ve not had bubbles like other schools and yet only one closure.

Open the ducking lot and I’d imagine we’ll shift a few more…

I can see why it would increase transmission but they’re in a pretty enclosed space at Centre Court. Much less open than most football grounds.

As far as I could see not published yet, I had raised the same question so i could weigh up the financial vs fringe benefits of an ST but havnt seen anything.

By not publishing them it makes me think prices wont be increased at all , dare I even say reduced?....as otherwise if they were going to go up you would add it to the benefits of an ST list that they have rolled out so far.

I think there is pretty strong hint in the ST pricing that the Upper match days price will go up.

So grown adults actually tick or cross posts? Odd…if you don’t agree with something that’s fine but it’s a forum, a ready made platform to share your views in written form rather than a tick box…

It’s a symbiotic relationship. Cleansing for us as you say and ‘cathartic’ for them 😆.

For red crosses - I like this quote which I saw recently on another forum... Behold the field in which I grow my f(e)cks. Lay thine eyes upon it and see that it is barren.  [Green H; An Absolutely Remarkable Thing]

So grown adults actually tick or cross posts? Odd…if you don’t agree with something that’s fine but it’s a forum, a ready made platform to share your views in written form rather than a tick box…

Not at all. If a post expresses an opinion then you either will or won't agree with that and mark accordingly. But there are many examples on this site where a poster has asked a simple question and been red crossed. What can be so opinionated about  asking  a question? IMO an adult mind would know the difference but then again that is just an opinion not a question

There's some weird sorts on this forum. I ask a question and 2 people disagree with my post.

What's that all about?

I take it you don't know the answer to my question.

If I'm honest I very rarely even take any notice of the ticks and crosses.. Can't remember the last time I did any of them, if I agree or disagree I'll reply to the comment / post

I think there is pretty strong hint in the ST pricing that the Upper match days price will go up.

I just dont see it, if they are putting prices up for pay on the day then they need to say, would certainly help sway those that are not quite sure as to the benefit/ value of purchasing this season.
Bear in mind that the current 10 & 20% offers are mainly available to the existing holders, off the top of my head with some cigarette packet maths, I think around 50% of our historic normal would be in line for a 20% discount, 50% in line for the 10%.
The prices on these look quite attractive, but for new purchases with no discount then the prices look high for non league footy.
If the club announce now the matchday prices will be rising by a couple of quid then that could be all the more tempting to commit.

Dont really care about the crosses per se, it's just that it's a bit cockeyed to me to 'disagree' with a question.

If you see a question asked and know the answer, you take the time to type a response. If you dont know the answer, you move on. That's what I do anyway.

If you think it's a stupid question, then by all means say so, but to just hit the disagree button makes no sense at all and just makes you a bit of a tool.

As somebody once put it,

Every question is easy when you know the answer

But

You ask the question because you don't know the answer.

Nobody knows everything about everything which makes a red cross silly.

I have renewed mine, this coming season will be a learning curve for us all, I do not expect us to win the league or get into the play offs, we should get a settled squad together, with new owners and new ideas and push from there, anything above 8th position will be good enough for me.

I don't get your thoughts. I have, and always will, expect us to win every match; beit league or cup. I also know we won't win every game but surely as supporters and fans, a win must be our first expectation.

I just don't see any other point. We should go out to win the league first, if that appears not to be the case towards the end of the season then promotion via the play off's. We no longer have the negativity of the old regime which has been replaced by the positivity of the new owners. Positive motivation going forward with enthusiasm upwards.

The only thing that is good enough for me is to get out of this poxy league and back into the Football League. Others have done it at first attempt so why should we?

Agreed Heppy, we have money coming in from Dembele, Pollock and Grist, as well as the parachute payment from EFL. With that we should mount a serious challenge for the title, never mind playoffs. Always go for the title, never accept second place as the target.

i'd say 25% of what could reasonably expected in less than a week is bloody good going

ps found the following season ticket sales figures
2018-19 - 3098
2017-18 - 2929
2016-17 - 2923
2015-16 - 2426
2014-15  - 2008
and that those figures for 18-19 were the highest since 1998 when 2849 were sold

We should be challenging for the top spot. If we're still up their and challenging for it with a few games remaining then it's a good effort. This league is not as easy as some think. Although it doesn't matter how you get into the play offs whether you only lose 3 all season and finish 2nd or lose 13 and finish 8th I'd like to think the first one would be the case.

We were never in the title hunt at the business end of the season during our long stay in non league even with one of arguably the best squads we’ve had in a decade.

Hopefully Paul Hurst has improved and we spend our much improved war chest wisely.

Ordered my ST by phone yesterday morning. It arrived here in Sheffield by 10.00 am today!

Got my 20% off for buying one last year and pleased to be offered my old season 19/20 seat. For Mariners Trust members it helps if you have your membership number handy. All done in one 5 min phone call.

No more ripping tickets from a book and some money off goodies to spend in club shop, Steels, Pennels, Mcmenemy's etc. and two free pints in the new Fanzone. Made my day!

1200 done in 9 days, about 240 of those new, payday for most to come at some point in the next week or so.

Looks like good numbers to me, would be surprised if we’ve hit 1000 so early for a long time.

We haven’t had any of the traditional statements like ‘record number of tickets sold by 11AM on the fourth day of sales’. ‘Most tickets sold to left-handed people called Pete, ever’. I miss those.

You're living in dream land. If we sell 3000 I'll be surprised. The euphoria will soon fade, before season tickets are on sale, and it will miss out some of the people feeling the impulse based on momentum. Covid is still a huge spanner in the works. People will have to consider whether they'll be furloughed again come winter and spending a lot of money on a frivolous item is justified when they might not be able to even go to many matches. Plus there aren't a thousand people that were only staying away because of Fenty, if we are tearing it up then gates will be high. If we're not then any new attendees will soon get bored and go back to alternative Saturday afternoon activities.

1200 sold in 9 days and almost 250 new season ticket holders  makes it look like this poster's prediction might be as wrong as those who suggested we were going to have adecent season under Holloway

This is the sort of negative, no ambition thinking that stank the club out in the Fenty years..

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

We're 9 days in and not even half way there. Sales are likely to be front loaded, so you should probably wait until I'm actually proven wrong before trying to rub my nose in it. Nothing's changed my opinion yet.

hate to pull you up again PP, but once again the facts over the last 2 seasons prove you wrong.
2019-20 there were about 450/500 sales in the first week, eventually ending up at about 3000

. 2018-19 season tickets were available from 30 April

There have been countless people at the ground who are coming back after many seasons away.

Speaking to a guy today who hasn't set foot in the ground since Newell days.

A lot of businesses are getting back involved with the club, doing advertising, sponsorship etc.

sorry Ginny, don't believe you. As we've been told the end of Fenty/Fentyism/Fentyomics will not result in an upsurge of enthusiasm/ spectators/budgets/ sponsorship/ticket sales

May be these are the folk Day was talking about, may be he just didn’t realise that plenty of people couldn’t be doing with then incompetent fuckabout that was our previous owner and his irrelevant and unimportant no mark hangers on…

Nah can't be true. Pen Penfras has told us that Fenty and co weren't holding the club back and actually did a very good job of running the joint.

It’s like those pesky investors, remember when Fenty told us that nobody was interested in working with the club, yet here we are, Docks, for example jumping straight in. Almost like something was making them hold back before.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think we’ll sell 3000 season tickets but I’d argue that this time around, ‘new’ season ticket holders is the number to watch. Perhaps some had one in the last but haven’t purchased for a while, perhaps some have never one before…this number interests me. What made them buy this time? Especially when the club has gone down to the abyss…again.

I suppose I’d be classed as a new ST holder, not had one for 5/6 years due to work and not being able to commit to every game. My work situation hasn’t changed, but the club has. ST’s for me and my boy (1st timer) purchased yesterday!

Oh so give it a rest PP....

I've just been reading and not posting. But some moron starts calling me out as wrong when that hasn't even been proved the case yet, but I should give it a rest. How about stop being obsessed about me and I'll take my realism along with Ipswin's cantankerism and let you all have a love in about how things are right now. Then when you all turn, which eventually will happen, I'll be the voice of reason again.

We're 9 days in and not even half way there. Sales are likely to be front loaded, so you should probably wait until I'm actually proven wrong before trying to rub my nose in it. Nothing's changed my opinion yet.

Pathetically negative as per normal & showing so much bitterness.

I would anticipate a surge in sales after July 1st when salaried staff get paid.

I’m sure some boring girl private will have a moan but for essentially the worst team in the English football league last year to shift that many season tickets within a short space of time is decent…

Amazing what happens when your despot incompetent owner is displaced…

Over 1400 sold after just two weeks, seems to be well up on usual numbers. Regulars have another month until their seats are released, so you’d expect another rush on sales around mid July.

Can remember the club referring to hitting the “magical 2000” mark during our last stint in the conference, so imagine we’ll smash through that.

Great to see, hope the club push for 3k minimum.

Well over 1700 sold in three weeks. I did some digging on previous sales recently and I can’t remember seeing anything like this, and that’s with some typically busy weeks ahead as season tickets start to be released. Great news.

weird that there are 350+ new season ticket holders, when we know full well that there aren't hundreds of Town fans who were staying away under (or because of ?? ) the old regime

Some may have been waiting for confirmation of the lockdown release - we'll see now if there is a surge of renewals up to the 19th when all seats are released for general ST sale. Feels like we are heading for circa 3k.

Another thing for Fenty to bewail…..we should have had the Euros last year and we know how essential a Summer tournament is to the season ticket strategy. 😆

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

Cant see us reaching 3k but anything north of 2-2.5k will be respectable enough given relegation, 16months of covid, uncertainty of the future covid measures general decline since returning to the League.

2 tickets bought in my house this season though for the first time in many years...and definitely attributable to the departure of JF.

Well over 1700 sold in three weeks. I did some digging on previous sales recently and I can’t remember seeing anything like this, and that’s with some typically busy weeks ahead as season tickets start to be released. Great news.

New season ticket holders compared to 19/20 or 20/21? If it's 20/21 that means almost everyone has renewed and the 350-400 remainder are "new"/lapsed

Looking back on the Fishy:

2 June 2018 we had sold 1100

5 June 2019 we had sold 430

Not sure on the start dates of sales.

Yesterday was the first official day where we have had it confirmed that we will be allowed to attend football games. Im shocked and amazed but obviously very happy how many season tickets we've sold
But I genuinely feel it'll double and we could be looking at 3,500 by the first kick off!

I think 20% new season ticket holders is consistent with previous seasons.

I’ve pieced these figures together from the club website and Twitter feed -

21/22- 1740 in 21 days
19/20 - 3rd June, no update
18/19 - 1100 in 38 days
17/18 - 2nd June, 1000 in 22 days
16/17 - 1000 in 11 days
15/16 - 1100 in 22 days (6th - 28th June)
14/15 - 1200 in 35 days (2nd June - 6th July)

Only ones missing are last season for obvious reasons, and 19/20, where I think final figures were about 2700?

Either way, this season’s 1740 as of yesterday is well ahead of anything recently, and going about the same rate as 16/17. It’s difficult to make any predictions on these numbers alone, but I imagine they’ll be pleased in the office and it can only mean good things for Hurst’s budget.

Well I’ve got a season ticket for the first time in around 7 years or so, my JF boycott is now over - and I’m looking forward to returning regularly - there’s others whom are returning also now he’s gone.

The JF lovers can Red Cross this one all day long. 👍😂

Has the price been mentioned for match day tickets yet?

Not been on here for a while but came on today mainly to ask this same question...... although looking at the response to Ginny it seems a bit taboo?

Just wondering though if any developments on this as the question was asked almost three weeks ago and despite looking on the official site I can't find anything about individual match day ticket prices

that question has been asked on here. Also says that club shop is open 10-4 (i know someone asked on another thread)

great to see the level of enthusiasm being maintained. Would imagine there will be further boosts a) if England win b) when 19 July is all confirmed c) when we get some new signings d) end of July pay packets e) any feel good factor from the Broadley game, friendlies etc.

Decided to go for a season ticket for me and my lad.  Two questions... Does anyone know if you can check the view from seats prior to purchasing?  Can anyone recommend a good spot in the Upper Youngs that isn't obscured by railings or supports (approx row and seating area)?  Thanks in advance.

With the increased interest in football with the Euros, could we not temp new footy fans  to our games?  Offer something as “tasters” seeing a real live game.  The quality is different but the same feelings are there.  Striking whilst the irons hot and all that.

Maybe some newcomers could end up with a life sentence watching the Mariners.

Good to see all these Season Tickets being sold, but for me, with a tinge of sadness.  Because of my disabilities I am unable to attend matches anymore, and have to rely on social media or BT Sport etc. to watch my team in action.

Anyway, first match of season is live on BT Sport so will definitely watch that one.  #UTM #1878

The 50s are approximately the centre of the stand. You'll have your view of a couple of very small parts of the pitch obscured by a couple of supports but should still be able to see both goals and the corner flags so wouldn't miss much.

Depending on the works in progress the staff will take you to the seat so you can view. If you check the seat numbers that are available  on the ground plan via the purchase season ticket links on the official site first, see which you may fancy...choose a couple of options so you have a few possible seats in mind when you do go, that would help yourself and them.
They are replacing the barrier at the front of the upper so the view will be less obstructed lower down the stand  now anyway.

Staff were very helpful when I went . Just try and pick a quiet day midweek if possible

Rows J, K, L about seat 48 to 54 give a very good balanced view

As an excile  who can’t/won’t attend evening fixtures I joined the 1878 club.

It’s not about what do I get from it. It’s about what can I do for the club at a sensible cost.

If we all go into this season supporting our community club, we might just get back into the football league.

I can’t fault the commitment or integrity of our new senior management team and owners.

Fab run exeter, who spend most of their time hovering at the top end of league 2 have only sold just short of 1,700.. So for what we've been through we've sold a greatt amount..... So far.

Where’s the doubters? Is PP kicking about?

Now we all know 3000 is unlikely but after years of abject failure, zero ambition, zero ideas, zero investment and urine poor running of the club…and relegation, again, shifting this many is decent…

Still here, still waiting for these thousands of fans that were staying away because of Fenty to show themselves.

But it has? After seeing us relegated from the league again, and the year the world has just had you’d imagine shifting 2000 would be seen as a big deal…you’d be deluded to think there would’ve been a queue of Fenty was still ruining our club…

The quote, from many, is that THOUSANDS of fans weren't attending solely because they didn't want to put money into Fenty's pockets. We've sold 2045 tickets according to the tweet above. What part of that suggests that people were only staying away because of Fenty? We had 3000+ the last 2 seasons before the covid mess, so not even close to that with more than half of the time gone. Yet we should be expecting huge increase if people were staying away from Fenty. There's been threads where everybody is posting claiming to know groups of people who don't go because of Fenty.

I've said all along that most people only care about what is happening on the pitch and not who is calling the shots in the background. Lots of the new stuff is nice and will have a short term effect on the gates, but I guarantee we won't be getting anywhere near 5000 through the gate if we're not very close to top after 10 games.

When I see average attendance significantly up on our last non league season, then I might start to believe that Fenty was the reason people stayed away.

Blooming heck, we’re in the conference, still trying to defeat a pandemic, would assume quite a few season tickets and day tickets will be staying away for them 2 reasons for a start.

Fenty was the worst owner this Club has ever had and nothing you or he says can deflect from that FACT. The football club I will wager will finish above 14th in League 2 more than once in the next 20 years the new board dont have a lot to beat looking at his record of success.

Re-posting from earlier in the thread

2018-19 - 3098
2017-18 - 2929
2016-17 - 2923
2015-16 - 2426
2014-15  - 2008

The 2014/15 is the best Fenty reference year for Conference Level - 2015/16 had the boost of the feelgood of Operation Promotion. So we are already ahead of the game for this level. I expect to be nearer to 2018/19 numbers than 2015/16 when the season starts.

3 of us will be renewing, but we are not in a desperate rush to part with our cash! I am sure there are a lot more like me and will renew/buy in the next couple of weeks.

I know this is about season tickets, but a lot of stay away fans are not going to jump straight in with a season ticket after all that has gone on, are they? They will probably go to individual matches to see if the new owners really are the real deal, and the product is worth shelling out their hard-earned cash on. If we start well, I would imagine the crowds will increase as the season goes on.

Whatever the final figure on season tickets they would have fallen through the floor under Fenty - my three for a start!

Is that a ‘many’ similar to a Fenty ‘few’?

Exactly my point though, isn't it? Fans will come based on what we do on the pitch, not based on who is running the club, or some nice rhetoric in the media.

I think this thread can best be summed up in that there will be more season tickets/people attending games now than there would be if the old regime were still here.

The end.

If there ends up being another ban on fans attending in the next few weeks than the National League won't start.

As someone who, last April , predicted there would be no fans at BP till Sept 2021 (I was 2months out)  i can see reduced capacity come into the National League .

75% of the way to the ambitious figure of 3,000, with a month to go until the start of the season. I bought mine today, and I'd expect there to be a decent number who'll be purchasing ahead of the 19/20 seat deadline, plus July's payday still to come. With a small trickle thereafter I can see us ending up somewhere around the 2,750 mark which when you add the context that we've just been relegated back into non-league and there remains a degree of uncertainty over whether grounds will remain at full capacity as we approach winter, I think that would be a decent effort.

Apologies if the information is out there - but when will we actually get the season tickets.

I was told they would post them to me but I just want to know if they are going out now to save bothering the ticket office. Hopefully, it has not gone missing.

Don't think it will be far off 3k by the start of the season.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

My rough n ready graph shows very little sign of tail off or even stalling.we are still selling c250 every week
19.6 750 after 4 days
21.6 800
1200 24.6
1300 28.6
1400 29.6
1500 30.6
1740 5.7
1950 8.7
2045 15.7
2270 21.7

God knows where all these people are coming from. After all when did marginal gains ever get you 3 points on the pitch, and people are only interested in watching a title challenging team

Agree - I think the very recent trend with cases will have an impact. Latest AZ research on the AZ vaccine suggests it is not as good as previously thought at stopping you catching COVID but it's very good at preventing serious symptoms in otherwise healthy people. Some thinking about their health, those with underlying conditions - diabetes / autoimmune conditions etc could still catch COVID and be seriously ill even if double jabbed because of compromised immune systems, may not fancy being in crowd of 4-5k.  Others may hold back thinking if cases really explode we may get some kind of lockdown again.

I thought we were heading for 3k but I'll guess at circa 2,750 now.

Ah, but England had a good Euros didn’t they. And we all know a key component of the old regime’s ticket strategy was to hope for a good Summer tournament, sit back and hope there were enough pages left in the manual season ticket ledger. Lo and behold we have good sales. Proof that the old strategy is effective!!

I bet Fenty gets no thanks from the Tyre Kickers for this.

Some good points made, before covid stopped the fans attending I only missed about 20 home games since 1976 and had a season ticket for many years but I am absolutely gutted not to be attending until it is safe due to my health which effects my immune system. Most annoying will be losing my seat  i had for many year's but hopefully I can survive to see them play in the league next season. I Hope I miss some of the best football we've played for many years so those attending are rewarded for missing last season.UTMM

I’m sure the random fentyistas will probably come and gloat when we don’t hit the 3k mark but in truth, after years of abject nothingness and intercourse god awful club mismanagement and horrific football, anything over 2000 is huge in my book.

Then you have to look at new ST holders…why would 300+ people just decide to buy a ST after the disaster that was last year? Of course it’s nothing to do with Fenty leaving, or so the odd random will claim, but what could it be? Hardly the standard of football is it…

Unfortunately Boris saying he won't put the country back into lockdown fills me with absolutely zero confidence.

The pressures on the system itself, quite rightly, should dictate if we go back into a lockdown scenario or not.  Anyone who doubts the sheer gravity of this third wave should go and speak to anyone working on the covid wards of their nearest hospital.

I suppose GTFC as a club are fortunate at this level that we're of sound footing and have the ability to stream games to season ticket holders and on-the-day sales.  Not all clubs have that benefit and I'm not sure how many will be able to stomach another season of vastly reduced income.

I’m not convinced that the ownership has more than a small impact on season tickets. Historically we seem to achieve c 2500-3000, which doesn’t change a great deal between divisions. 300 new season ticket holders is probably what I would expect. This assumes we lose on average 10% a season who don’t renew, who are then replaced by either newbies or previous holders.

I’m excited by the change of ownership, the changes being delivered at the ground and Cheapside, but I would have renewed under old or new regime.

Now at 2423.

Impressive all things considered.

I didn’t think we could make 3000 but I don’t think we’ll be far off now.

That's 150+ in 5 days, so not too far off my guestimate of 250 per week

Interesting to see the comparison, especially as the club seem reluctant to give a year/year figure. Second best sales figures in the last 10 years or so would surely be a good news story? Anyway, hope to see that line continuing upwards, amazing given the circumstances really. Relegation, covid, 1878 memberships eating into those borderline cases who might’ve gone either way.

A couple more signings, maybe some good news on the Grist or Dembele fronts, few decent pre-season results and they might get another bump.

From a bit of fág packet maths, we're averaging around 60 sales per day, down to around 40 per day in July (with the earlier figure inflated by the short spike immediately after the tickets went on sale). Another 14 days' worth of sales at that rate gets you more or less to the magical figure of 3,000, which given there's still July's payday to come for most people feels eminently doable.

Gut feel tells me we might still finish slightly short of that mark, somewhere between 2,800 and 2,900, but the fact we're even contemplating the possibility of smashing the 3k barrier is remarkable in itself.

That’s my take; perhaps a couple got giddy and predicted 3000 but in reality, the vast majority expected no more than probably what we have already sold. That’s understandable after years of abject failure and another relegation from the league.

In a year where many folk have seen a huge dent to their income and big lifestyle changes, albeit temporary, you can see why some may still be tentative.

My own view is that after another woeful season, a season that started with a clown in charge and zero effort to prepare, anything above 2000 is great…

I don't always agree with your posts but I think you have an excellent summary of the sales.

Sales might creep up to 2,800ish which given your comments is great. A good start to the season could also see match day attendance over 4,000 with more season tickets sold at a discount then (old season ticket holders renewing), I think they use to do a 6-month version for the last half of the season.

The attendance figures are really down to wins, goals, and entertaining football in that order.

I think the important thing to realise is not whether we beat our season ticket total for when we were promoted via Wembley back to the league, despite having just finished last in an abject season of barely scoring and having been relegated to non league again. Although if we were to achieve that it would be near miraculous. Its to think how we are doing compared to how we would have if fenty had stayed. I would think we have sold at least a 1000 more than what we would have, and we would be embroiled in a fan boycott,  if he had stayed.

Looking at that graph it seems like we have sold as many as we did in 2015-16 which considering the summer of 2015 was when we had Operation Promotion, is remarkable.

I must be one of the giddy ones because I think 3000 is still doable. Some might be holding off to see how things go after the easing of restrictions. 19 July was not that long ago.

Slight quibble with the graph - it shows that one year (2011-12?) sales went down after about 17 days. Impossible, unless people returned them gor credit.

Like has been said before, Talk of another lockdown is holding people back not just in football but other things as well. I did not get a season ticket for the last 3 seasons because i was not feeding fenty`s obsession with power.  But now i am holding back to see what unfolds about the next lock down, and there will be one of some sort. I dont mind paying on the day even if it costs a bit more , and i see that as helping a little bit as the club make more money that way

To sell the amount of ST's we have after the worst season in living memory is quite an achievement. Had the old regime still been in charge, I think sales would have crashed spectacularly.

There is also covid still having an effect on sales too. Without it, I think we would have sailed past 3000 comfortably. Of our regular gang of four, none would have renewed without a change of ownership. To date, two already have and one is about to. I won't be renewing myself but only because I won't be able to attend enough games to justify one. Will still attend every game I can get to but probably wouldn't have made the effort had there not been change at the top. Definitely wouldn't have given any time to the fan zone either.

Ownership has played a part although we’ll never know for sure…I do know I’d have genuinely, for the first time ever been debating whether or not to get one because of Fenty and I know several others who had made the point and didn’t even watch games last year…

Covid may be a factor but it doesn’t seem to have had a big an impact as foll claim given the amount we’ve sold. The lockdown talk is simply that and is unnecessary but I guess people still think it should happen.

Maybe we’ll shift a couple after july’s payday…either way it’s still a decent amount after the worst season ever and 20 years of abject failure from the owners…

In a parallel universe where Covid is completely eradicated from the world, it would be interesting to see how many we sold. I think we would have broken the 3000 barrier.

Be interesting to know how many 1878 Memberships have been sold - given that attendance at 6 games minimum is needed to make it worthwhile to have an 1878 card they are worth a quarter of a season ticket to the club...kind of...

as another sign of the renewed interest, the Trust mentioned in their latest minutes that they are fast approaching 2000 members (a more than 250% increase on pre takeover numbers) and that there hasn't been a single day since early May without some new members joining

I have a friend who, although he won't get a ST (he lives away) intends to attend as many home games as possible. This is purely down to the departure of JF. He had a verbal altercation with JF 13 years ago and said he would never set foot in BP again while "that b****** " ran the club. It might only be one punter and it might only amount to £200 approx this season. But that is £200 we wouldn't have got and I suspect there could be a few like him.

If this is the case multiply the figure by a few hundred which will mean a few £1000k's going into the coffers. All good news for funds for the promotion push.

I bought a 1878 membership to support the club I don't think I will  get to six home games more like 3 or four and about the same away.

If we are near the top of the league we will be on BT  a lot which is a bonus to me who can not get to many games.

Did I say that? Because I said thousands and we're still nowhere near that being the case. There were at least 10 people on here claiming that everybody knows groups of people that won't turn up until Fenty is gone and some were saying 5k season tickets were realistic. So we're still absolutely nowhere near a significant difference yet.

It is however a fantastic turnout and looks like it will be better than I expected. But that's because of the current optimism, not Fenty going, although I realise that the two are very much entwined in this case.

Truth is......as we are not comparing eggs with eggs then we wont ever know, the gut feeling is that if JF had have stayed on we wouldnt be near the figure we are at now, how much lower ?? Pure speculation, how much higher is it now he has gone ...again purely speculation.

I know my own two household  S.T's for this season are the first in a number of years and that is purely down to JF going.

The newly announced 500 total of "new purchasers" could be argued are a result to the JF factor, but what we dont know is how many of the other 2000 renewals would have passed up renewing if JF had have still been here.

We are now at a figure that I would have expected with everything still ongoing currently   so anymore from now on for me would be gravy.

See where you're coming from but it's not a fair test after we were relegated and with Covid. All conjecture but were we still in League 2 and without Covid, that figure would be over 3000 already I suspect.

1)without being anal and going through your posting history i get the feeling there's a bit of repostioning and rewriting history going on here
2) don't remember anyone saying we'd get 5000 season tickets on the back of Fenty going
3) you still haven't told us why the new owners aren't quite what they seem to be , and what the negative rumours about them are
4) PH seems quite happy, and i'm struggling to remember us going away to comparative facilities under Fenty

I'd be interested in the ST sales from '90 onwards. I imagine there aren't many years over 4k?

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

I’d bet no one on here has said we’d sell 5000 STs. Looks like PP has added 2k to the optimistic forecasts of people like me, because 3k isn’t that far off now.

It really isn't. By my maths, we're currently tracking to hit 3,000 on 7th August - a week on Saturday. Given it's payday on Friday, that may well come a couple of days earlier.

Honestly, I've gone from thinking that 3,000 was unrealistic, to thinking we'll get close but not quite hit it, to thinking that we're absolutely nailed on to do it. I'd actually be shocked now if we don't break that figure, and in fact I'd go so far as to say that I think we'll surpass the figure of circa 3,100 sold on the back of Operation Promotion in 2015.

We're tracking very closely to our 2015 sales, yet we're a further two weeks out from the start of the season than we were then:

I'm sure that the 3100(?) from a couple of years ago was the highest ever total

Well you can count me in the 2000 that wouldn't have renewed had Fenty and his mob stayed in control.

I'd had my lot with the club, completely disengaged with everything coming out with and absolutely going through the motions of supporting them.

Whilst watching games through iFollow still, I dare say that the pandemic gave me insight that Saturday's don't just have to be about GTFC and I had made my inner peace with turning my back on the club for good.  Confident I wouldn't have been alone in that train of thought either.

So a total that is a non-League record for us. And only bettered in 3 recent season by 100-200. Not bad for tyre kickers.

I’m still worried about that year when sales actually reduced after 17 days. And I’ve just noticed 17-18 and 11-12 drop towards the end.

Also can’t help but notice there are still some sad little boys who red crossed Forza and Southwark simply stating what can only be described as good news for the club.

There's four season tickets in this house that wouldn't have been here had the previous regime stayed in power.

100%, I would rather someone give me a piece of their mind (I've been an absolute male private the odd time over the 10+ years, I must admit) and give me a rant or positive praise. Try and encourage people to actually use the forums more, instead of hidden 'agree' or 'disagree', with ticks or crosses.

I didn't even know what cathartic means, learnt something new today after googling it.

No amount of ‘smoothing’ will make actual sales reduce. One week we’d sold 400 and a week later the total was down to 300. The points on the curve are the cumulative totals, not daily or weekly figures.

You are quite correct. What you're looking at there is the pre-season of 2011/12, and Town had just allowed fans' favourite Serge Makofo to go on trial at Lincoln to the anger and dismay of the Town faithful. The graph simply shows the refunds requested in protest at the decision, which eventually forced the club's hand in bringing "Power Serge", as he was known by his adoring fans on account of his lightning speed and electrifying skills, back to his spiritual home.

In time sadly a dream move to Farnborough Town was to prove too tempting for either club or player to turn down and he would go on to light up pitches across Europe including the likes of Gresley Rovers, Edinburgh City and Cypriot Third Division heavyweights PAEEK (pronounced as if you've just stood on a fúcking upturned plug in the dark in the middle of the night).

And if you need a reminder of just how good he was, here's 20 minutes of the great man warming up, sat in various dressing rooms, getting tackled and occasionally completing the odd five yard sideways pass. Enjoy...

Why would you need to smooth the curves? All you need is to plot sales. No jiggery-pokery or fancy footwork needed. Simple numbers plotted. The number goes up each week. Some weeks the curve flattens out, sometimes it steepens. It doesn’t go down unless a lot of people get refunds.

Because the lack of data points in some years make the lines quite jarring and difficult to read which detracts from the message of the graph, which is essentially about performance this year in comparison to others. With more data points it wouldn't be needed as the lines would be smoother anyway.

I should add that this isn't statistical smoothing of the data, but visual smoothing to lessen the impact of essentially having 3 data points for some years.

Honestly I see people do it all the time, presumably the chart is a line chart created in excel, there's an option to  smooth the line which is often used for ascetic purposes. Doesn't make it right but I've sat through loads of presentations where people have used it and it makes the data look a bit odd.

I’m confused. So does it mean I should be wearing a mask of not ??

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Exactly. It’s not showing what it’s supposed to show. Which means it’s wrong. The whole point of a graph is to illustrate what’s going on. If the line looks a bit odd because there aren’t enough data points, don’t try to dress it up as something it isn’t. Especially when a bit of it is actually showing something that isn’t happening.

Well why not draw the line based on the actual data points? There are no prizes for artistic merit. “Smoothing” it because there aren’t enough data points is actually massaging the data and in this case has clearly made it look like something radically  different has happened to what is in fact happening.

It’s the equivalent of a quick boot up the field, getting in a goal scoring position and then passing it back to the midfield because there weren’t enough passes/data points and the play didn’t look slick enough.

I preferred this thread when it was fans bitching about how many we’d sell, people telling others they’re deluded Becauee we’ll never shift 3000 and then people going on about Fenty or people moaning about prices and just general nonsense…

Smoothing of curves? Are we talking about some no mark influencers Instagram pics?

Wrexham have sold 5000 season tickets to date and have put a cap of 5200 on sales now. Looks like their fans are getting carried away with their new owners and pre-season expectations.

Fair play to them, wish we’d sold 5200 season tickets.

Slightly diminishes the impact though when you’ve already effectively got an unlimited budget.

Probably not, but when we did get big crowds BP was more or less all standing and season tickets didn't seem to be such an important issue did they?

Prices were pretty low anyway, so I just used to turn up, pay cash at the turnstiles, get to my usual standing spot and I never saw the value of a season ticket.

I don't suppose any of our record crowd of 31,000 were season ticket holders - and no I wasn't there but my dad was!

We are going to get 3,000! We are going to be big this year!

Just a thought, we have 1,000 more season ticket holders that the Forest Gumpers get home support!

Yeah, I saw that sub 2000 attendance on Saturday. Okay, I know they are out of the way but how they have started the season, surely they should be attracting larger crowds than that. Mr Vince's pockets must be incredibly deep!

Most of their fansw no longer go as it is some Stale Mince plaything, they go to see Paul Groves' Gloucester City again now they are back in the city. In exile, I did go for a number of years, but not since 2011 when he took over!

You’ve spent about a fortnight moaning at people about a line not being in the right position. Absolute crank behaviour.

You’ve got a warped view if you think that then. A little picky maybe but not cranky. You really need to take a look at yourself using mental illness as an accusation of something you find boring. If you don’t like it, find a better way of criticising it.

Absolutely unbelievable considering relegation. I genuinely wonder how many we’d have sold in these circumstances under the previous regime. We’ve got our football club back people!

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Doesn't sound a lot 3,000 but you think what this club has beeen through, plus uncertainty of covid, its a magnificent amount. I reckon we could squeeze to 3250 if we hit the ground running UTM

Vehicle reversing. Dee-dot. Vehicle reversing.

I’ll stick my neck out and say above 3000 at least matching the best under the Old Regime in the past decade.

Whichever way you look at it, shifting 3000 season tickets a year after folk were furloughed and a truly woeful season after 17 years or incompetent leadership at the club is mega…

Not much space left for the game on Saturday. Trying to get 3 tickets together and it’s looking like the Main Stand is the best option.. Does anybody know if the back rows there P to T have bad views ?

Good point !

I think from what I remember it’s not too bad in there, just the odd post to look around.

JS made a point on Wednesday night that i didn't pick up, and haven't seen mentioned elsewhere

apparently 23% of the season ticket sold have been to new season ticket holders. So that's 750 people who've suddenly made a big financial committment, following the departure of F***y

rather supports the idea that there were, indeed, hundreds of fans out there who had been staying away
