But..., but... Boris said the unlocking was irreversible!
And he’s never been known to lie or make sudden U-turns.

Unfortunately Boris saying he won't put the country back into lockdown fills me with absolutely zero confidence.
The pressures on the system itself, quite rightly, should dictate if we go back into a lockdown scenario or not. Anyone who doubts the sheer gravity of this third wave should go and speak to anyone working on the covid wards of their nearest hospital.
I suppose GTFC as a club are fortunate at this level that we're of sound footing and have the ability to stream games to season ticket holders and on-the-day sales. Not all clubs have that benefit and I'm not sure how many will be able to stomach another season of vastly reduced income.

I’m sure the random fentyistas will probably come and gloat when we don’t hit the 3k mark but in truth, after years of abject nothingness and intercourse god awful club mismanagement and horrific football, anything over 2000 is huge in my book.
Then you have to look at new ST holders…why would 300+ people just decide to buy a ST after the disaster that was last year? Of course it’s nothing to do with Fenty leaving, or so the odd random will claim, but what could it be? Hardly the standard of football is it…
I’m not convinced that the ownership has more than a small impact on season tickets. Historically we seem to achieve c 2500-3000, which doesn’t change a great deal between divisions. 300 new season ticket holders is probably what I would expect. This assumes we lose on average 10% a season who don’t renew, who are then replaced by either newbies or previous holders. I’m excited by the change of ownership, the changes being delivered at the ground and Cheapside, but I would have renewed under old or new regime.

Now at 2423. Impressive all things considered. I didn’t think we could make 3000 but I don’t think we’ll be far off now.

That's 150+ in 5 days, so not too far off my guestimate of 250 per week

https://mobile.twitter.com/mark_stilton/status/1419621093233635328Interesting to see the comparison, especially as the club seem reluctant to give a year/year figure. Second best sales figures in the last 10 years or so would surely be a good news story? Anyway, hope to see that line continuing upwards, amazing given the circumstances really. Relegation, covid, 1878 memberships eating into those borderline cases who might’ve gone either way. A couple more signings, maybe some good news on the Grist or Dembele fronts, few decent pre-season results and they might get another bump.

From a bit of fág packet maths, we're averaging around 60 sales per day, down to around 40 per day in July (with the earlier figure inflated by the short spike immediately after the tickets went on sale). Another 14 days' worth of sales at that rate gets you more or less to the magical figure of 3,000, which given there's still July's payday to come for most people feels eminently doable. Gut feel tells me we might still finish slightly short of that mark, somewhere between 2,800 and 2,900, but the fact we're even contemplating the possibility of smashing the 3k barrier is remarkable in itself.

That’s my take; perhaps a couple got giddy and predicted 3000 but in reality, the vast majority expected no more than probably what we have already sold. That’s understandable after years of abject failure and another relegation from the league. In a year where many folk have seen a huge dent to their income and big lifestyle changes, albeit temporary, you can see why some may still be tentative. My own view is that after another woeful season, a season that started with a clown in charge and zero effort to prepare, anything above 2000 is great…

I don't always agree with your posts but I think you have an excellent summary of the sales. Sales might creep up to 2,800ish which given your comments is great. A good start to the season could also see match day attendance over 4,000 with more season tickets sold at a discount then (old season ticket holders renewing), I think they use to do a 6-month version for the last half of the season. The attendance figures are really down to wins, goals, and entertaining football in that order.

I think the important thing to realise is not whether we beat our season ticket total for when we were promoted via Wembley back to the league, despite having just finished last in an abject season of barely scoring and having been relegated to non league again. Although if we were to achieve that it would be near miraculous. Its to think how we are doing compared to how we would have if fenty had stayed. I would think we have sold at least a 1000 more than what we would have, and we would be embroiled in a fan boycott, if he had stayed.
