Let's see what the lie of the land is regards the fans' feelings towards Mr Fenty and his tenure.

Absolutely. His resignation in the council proves he has done wrong.
His role as owner of a football club is now untenable.

Clear scrutiny and accountability at the council.

Not the same at the football club that he owns. To shift him would take a concerted effort from fans.

His position as ‘custodian’ is now untenable.

I don’t know about anybody else but I’m not spending a penny more at Blundell Park until he’s gone. Once again, we’re the laughing stock. Time for change.

I think social media more generally shows that he has had it. Nobody wants him to stay, apart from hangers on.

I would not like to be him when fans return to BP.

Difficult to answer. Personally I think yes but for me it isn’t as simple as yes or no. Depends who takes over and the circumstances. Wouldn’t want any Tom male private or Harry to take over........ or Alex.

His position as custodian of the club is untenable now. he must go. People will not want to do bussiness with him now. The trouble is he thinks he is or was untouchable and could controll everything and anything he wanted.. Well kama has started to do pay back and its only just started .. Thing is we all saw how he likes his little get you backs with radio hullberside so dont think he will just give up and go

We all have our own opinions on wether he should go, but unfortunately it's not up to us however much pressure is put on him, he owns the club, and until someone offers to buy him out, and offers a deal that is suitable to him, which i doubt will happen, we're stuck with him.

Given his resignation statement from the Council it looks highly unlikely that he has any intention of leaving the football club actually stating he intends to spend more time at the club. I am convinced he really believes the club cannot function without him, unbelievable really.

For all those wishing for change who is going to step up and takeover , cash, free time and skillset. I will not I am far too busy and probably not capable. I guess that there will be a queue of takers for a pretty skint league 2 football club. Another interesting poll , who of the posters in this chain has a season ticket utm

So you think there would be absolutely nobody out there willing to do it if Fenty was gone? Because I'm fairly sure that some successful local businessmen were interested enough in the idea that they'd put a plan together for a potential new stadium on the docks. There was also MIke Parker who wanted to be involved with the club but Fenty shafting him led to him walking.

There will be interest out there. Look at Lincoln. A club going nowhere with attendances barely above 2000 for most games but somebody took over, ran them properly and look at them now.

Maybe wont have a chance, there's a rule that quotes fit and proper person to run a club etc etc, that will be the next stage in the proceedings

JSF’s skill set shouldn’t be difficult to replace. He’s a joke in the football world. A joke on here. And now, a joke in the town.

He has no skills. I see it over and over again. Owner builds up a company, makes a few good decisions, a bit of good fortune. Sells up. Pockets the dosh. They then get bored and think they are some sort of business guru and they then fail to repeat the success because first time around they just got lucky

Lincoln is a developing city and a more attractive proposition than we are, I hope that you are right as  underwriting a football club even if not heavily investing needs some serious cash , interest and energy

That is a wind up surely?

Just taking Fenty out of the equation would be a massive step forward for the club, followed by interested parties ready to take us over at just the right time.

This is so true. I read an article on this very subject a few years back and posted a link on here. Very few self made men can repeat the feat, although they think they are some kind of business genius.

Several years later, JF is still here and the club is still wallowing at the bottom end of the bottom division.

Most fans are happy just to keep telling themselves that there is no other way and there are no other fans capable of having an original or intelligent notion.

There are plenty of successful businessmen among our fan base, not to mention accountants and lawyers.

This is another plea that will undoubtedly fall on deaf ears, but can those who still support Fenty enlighten us as to why they still give him their support. Not looking for conflict merely puzzled as to why people blindly support him.

Not a wind up and this is not a great time to be on the market. One thing to be interested another to throw money into a business with little return. As a small business owner , not a project that would interest me. I am playing devils advocate here but I am not very confident about willing investors unless you know a lot more than I do

I meant due to previously interested parties wanting to buy the club means they are out there. If Fenty was to sell at a realistic price and accept his time is over I am sure other parties would come forward. I would think buying now would mean the only way is up, being the football romantic that I am.

I've always been quite ambivalant towards Fenty, yes he's had he faults but I also think he has done some good.  I like the way the club has run fanancially, we are very sustainable and have never over spent like so others that have fallen by the wayside.  I do think he had in the past had too much stick, most of us applaud the managers that he has appointed, then months later when things go wrong its all his fault.

However and I mean a BIG however, what he has done now is inexcusable, and I don't think even his biggest fan could defend him today.

I still think there is a lot more to come out of this.   Somewhere there must be a lot of regeneration money coming Grimsby's way and a lot of people know about it.  We are suddenly seeing a lot of interest from people wanting to invest in GTFC, they all seem to have a property / regen background.

How the intercourse Fenty has any supporters i don't know.
I just can't get my head around it.

His EGO is even bigger than I thought if he thinks he can get away with this one.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

What skill set?!!! If the revelations of the past few days have shown, Fenty doesn’t have the skillset.

He has also taken money out. £800k over the last few years. See thread the other week about this.

And the club is profitable. Not skint. Unless your mate takes his bat home.

Much respect to you Squinter. You might have disagreed with us whingers for years about Fenty, but you have stood by your position until you saw new facts.

Ffs another pointless poll. Didn't need a poll to determine that. How about a poll to decide what the next poll will be. Or a poll to determine if jumping over a man from Poland is poll vaulting or a poll to see if the North Pole melts would Father Christmas deliver his presents in a submersible pulled by red nosed dolphins. Oh hold on a great idea for a poll, let's have a poll on who should be banned from the fishy.

You’ve clearly never looked at the accounts for 2008/09 and 2009/10 and how much money Fenty spunked on a successful and then unsuccessful battle against relegation to the Conference. And the club is still repaying Fenty for the money he chose to throw away in those 2 terrible seasons.

I think on the whole, regardless of how well folk think the club is run, in truth, all we’ve ever done is tread water or pay for Fenty’s mistakes.

The levels of arrogance that has emanated from the club over the years has been awful. Celebrating staying up because one team lost a shed load of points. Then going down and having the audacity to blame something that had happened years before.

Then there has been the countless PR debacles, then we offered advice to Lincoln about avoiding relegation and look what happened.

We championed Covid contracts and made errors with player contracts, not just this season.

The contempt for the fan base and the constant negative narrative. It’s all become tiresome and hopefully this finishes it off.

If Philip Day and Stephen Marley knew of Alex May’s past, they should, as former senior partners in professional companies, resign immediately.

For years, all you’ve heard is how Fenty is a very smart man, a Titan of industry and a savvy political operator.

Well he’s just been full-on Columbo’d by a comedian, a local journo and a couple of people on here in the space between KO on Saturday and their lunch break Monday. He’s been forced out of his position of power at the Council, his position at GTFC appears to be hanging by a thread and it now emerges that he has a potential misfeasance claim dangling over him like the sword of Damocles.

Some weekend for such a genius.

Lincoln is a developing city and a more attractive proposition than we are, I hope that you are right as  underwriting a football club even if not heavily investing needs some serious cash , interest and energy

Agree with this regarding Lincoln. It's like comparing apples and oranges. The university is a license to print money.

I am absolutely sick to the back teeth hearing negative stuff like this. Grimsby has a lot to offer. What about the green revolution offshore, and onshore come to that?

The fishing industry could make a recovery after Brexit trade talks have been finalised. Lincoln is smaller than Grimsby, Lincoln is a beautiful city but how ridiculous to claim it is like comparing apples and oranges. It is not Grimsby v Monaco. That is comparing apples and oranges.

Can I have more than one vote?

Of course he should go, ASAP.

If he tried to stay on no matter what, going to BP would be a cauldron of vitriol and make it a very unpleasant experience for us all. There must be a way of getting the takeover over the line, but if he absolutely insists on terms that no consortium would agree to, then as the Trust statement said fans will have to find other ways.

It really would be better to accept the inevitable; nothing lasts forever. Any reasonable person would accept compromise terms, and be paid back within an acceptable timeframe or some other suitable arrangement but am sure the consortium will insist that the break is clean, and he has nothing further to do with the Mariners apart from being a fan.

John Fenty was yet another successful businessman who thought that he could also run a football club.  He can’t.  His judgement is repeatedly seriously flawed.  He also wants to be liked.

There are many examples of the above.  2 of the worst examples are a) snapping a child's’ flag, an act of bullying, and then trying to justify it, and b) threatening to sell Liam Hearn if he did not get his own way and getting the shares from the Trust.

The ego has landed.

He has sallowed the memory and achievements of previous chairman of integrity, character, unselfishness and decency such as Bill Carr and others.

He is well past his sell-by date now and his position is completely untenable now.

Please go now.   For the grace of God, for the fans, for the good of the Club and last but not least .................to enable new owners and investment to take the Club forward with energy to where it belongs.

The fans are desperate for success and a fresh start.  They will be right behind new (right) owners,

I've left it a couple of days to reply to this. Where have I said Grimsby doesnt have a lot to offer? My point was purely about the amount of investment the University has brought to Lincoln together with an influx of people with money to spend. Hopefully when we get the centrepiece up in the regeneration (and I pray this will be in the format of a new ground for GTFC) other inward investment will follow. It isn't there yet.
I thought you were better than to claim I'm ridiculous whilst seemingly hoping that there is some sort of earth shattering recovery in the fishing industry post Brexit that will be able to provide the level of investment currently enjoyed by Lincoln and yes if you are wondering my feathers are ruffled 😀. Merry xmas

Pretty sure it was reported last year that currently there is £2 billion being spent on different infrastructure projects in and around Lincoln and the Two Universities, Lincoln & Bishop Grosstesste, are major contributors to this figure. Without the Universities Lincoln would be really struggling following the closure of all but one of its engineering companies, trouble for Grimsby is that successive governments have failed to replace the fishing industry with anything whereas up the road Doncaster appears to have been awash with investment following the demise of the coal industry.

I think he should go. He has acted indiscreetly and brought his name and the club's into disrepute. The amount of politics behind the scenes is alarming and unsavoury. If Mr Fenty is still about then I wonder if new investors will be interested in coming into the club. Time for a change in the atmosphere around the club. Sad times but at least we got three points today.

Great win yesterday. On your bike John, no one wants you here anymore.

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

Absolutely. His resignation in the council proves he has done wrong.
His role as owner of a football club is now untenable.

A pre-requisit of being  on the council  means  you are a wrong dooer but at least he puts his money into a club that he supports..Unlike maybe  Mr Ross who's family made all their wealth in Great Grimsby but decided  to invest in another towns football club. I abhore J.F. but he IS keeping us going.

Fenty won't go without his money. So, here's the only way I can see us getting Fenty out in the short term. Big sale comes in, Dembelle, Pollock, et al. The board vote to use the money to pay back Fenty's loan. Shutes and co. buy his shares.
