Really interesting interview on the latest NTT20 pod https://soundcloud.com/ntt20pod/weekend-chaos-recruitment-chat-with-blades-analytic about the use of data analytics in recruitment.  Pretty sure that IH isn't a massive convert to data analytics at this point but he (IH) is smart and will hopefully see the benefit that this approach can add to traditional methods.

Actually i think ollie commented after the mansfield game that the data showed the players had improved their max sprints by 17% or something like that. So I think he does take note of this stuff already

What time does Steels Corner House close after lunch?

How big are the puddings?

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

There must be some benefit in it but the thing that data analysis cannot do is show a football brain. For instance you can have data on how much running a player does and that may be superbly impressive but it does not show if he was running in the right direction or why he was doing it in the first place. Another instance might be someone like Teddy Sheringham who I was reading the other day made space by not moving and letting the defenders move away! I think this is what a manager like IH brings to the table in assessing players that someone like Jolley for example would not.

Not sure, but the Jumbo Haddock takes a bit of eating.

I can't help thinking that some bu99er in Yeovil is having a laugh here.

Yes Ollie definitely mentioned that his sports performance analyst told him high end sprints had improved 17% on any other time this season at Mansfield so he was happy as he had told them at half time they were gonna have to 'run like they've never run before'.

As well as showing he not a dinosaur, first hand evidence right there of his motivational abilities -something that can't be recorded on a computer or really properly taught on a course.

Yes it makes me laugh when they are quoting so and so made 77 passes with a 90% completion rate in that game but it means nothing if 90% of the passes were 5/10 yrds sidewards and backwards under no pressure  as in a lot of premier games.

IH said player had agreed to join on his Skysports podcast and Telegraph  state deal is done but cannot be announced, sounds a bit bizarre but there you go. I remain optimistic that the lure of the Holloway ice cream will be the deciding factor!!
