We had Nathan in at the college a couple of weeks back giving a talk to our students about mental health issues and I have to say he was brilliant. A bit more... Erm... Spiritual than I expected but great all the same.

I managed to speak to his girlfriend after and it turns out he's been treated horribly by Lincoln. He agreed to go on loan to Salford after a conversation with Gary Neville, despite his gut telling him it wasn't right and it was a total farce when he got there. Said he only saw the managers 3 times in the 4 weeks he was there and they did absolutely zero coaching at all, complete jokers the pair of them.

He phoned the Cowleys and told them what a joke it was there and asked them to recall him within the 28 days which they agreed to do... Subsequently they left him their meaning he would have to see out the 4 months at Salford. He spoke to them again and said he was going to leave and they threatened him with breach of contract should he walk but told them he'd rather go unpaid than stay there. They took him to an FA tribunal for breach of contract and the hearing was last Friday. His girlfriend said no club could officially talk to him while the investigation was ongoing but he had had unofficially chats with Macca and MJ and some possibilities.

I for one would take him back without a doubt... Great option to have even if just from the bench.

He told you that in confidence? lol

Got to ask yourself though, would Nathan be happy with that. At this stage of his career you would have thought that he want to go somewhere, where he was guaranteed regular games.

At the end of the day there is no loyalty to clubs by footballers today ( agents) so I have no sympathy to Nathan Arnold at all.

So a player who has well documented mental issues and wanted to re-sign for us but didn’t due to a short length of contract and apparently a low wage offer combined with being ill in a hospital in mexico, goes on loan to a club after a conversation with an ex England international but decides it is not for him and the gets screwed over by the so called ‘gods’ that are the Cowleys and is clearly hating his time their (again to repeat, a man with known mental health issues).

I like most of your posts PP but on this occasion I feel not having any sympathy with Nathan Arnold is bang out of order.

I respect the right for you to have a different opinion though.

Done his B Licence according to his Twitter bio

I noticed Podge completed his A licence last week, now that would be an unlikely assistant manager appointed for MJ.

It wasn't Nath BP, Mighty said he spoke to his Mrs and that's what she probably said, well I assume anyway lol.  Thanks for sharing Mighty, I always thought something was odd when at Lincoln, my work colleagues in Lincoln say that Nath suffers from mental health issues as did Billy Knott, and Nath was struggling since his mum passed away.  Nathan was my favourite player and I was absolutely gutted (along with Amond) when they left.  I'd certainly welcome Nath back as he never got the chance to play in league 2 with us.  I know some say he was inconsistent but in what way?  As a winger you tend to drift in & out the game if your not receiving the ball half as much, but I know what Nath can actually do as we've all seen it.

I’d absolutely have him back. No, he’s not going to be the best player in the league, but he’s incredibly talented, technically. And he’s the type of player that can make something happen - we were crying out for a player like him last season.

No.... He openly talked about his mistakes in joining Salford and the reasons for that during his talk to the students.

His girlfriend eluded to the rest of it.

Hearing he wants to go PT so he can do his teaching qualifications, and that we are interested.

I know he’d never join little old Darlo, but he’d be a fantastic signing for our level.

Haway Nathan, we can car-share on journeys back to GY!

My view is more often than not one of never go back.

Taking the emotional element out of it, is Arnold a player I think Jolley could work with and utilise? Yes, most definitely. Without doubt he's failed to make an impact at league level but I'd be curious to know why that is, it sure as hell isn't natural ability nor workrate and attitude. I suspect it's psychological, fascinating comment earlier saying he's scared of this level. I get the distinct impression Jolley is the type of man who would look after a player like Arnold and get just returns from him.

I'm probably getting old and soft but I also think a return would be good for Arnold. The lad is struggling with demons and needs to be loved and supported.

I really don't know on this one, hard to separate emotion from the footballing practicality.  I just wish Nathan the best, both personally and professionally.
