felicitations sake. Chesterfield one up - good corner in and it hit the lad on the chest and went in.

Shows what you can do with a good delivery.

Based on what we are seeing on TV, can't see us beating Chesterfield.
They have better players with pace and skill.
Barnet did not look much apart from Akinde and their fouling. Might Get a draw with them.
We must beat Stevenage, which might release some pressure.

Well tbf we almost went 1-0 up early on from a corner yesterday, only for Mills' header to hit Wilks on the line.

The only consolation I can see is that we have Notts coming to our place and they look absolutely useless (though when we get to play them they probably won’t be anywhere near as poor)

I don't think Fenty will be pleased or proud in fact he will be drunk off - shame the players won't be.

I pointed out on another thread that Chesterfield have been decimated by injuries since Christmas, their better players are starting to return, and of all the sides down the bottom, they look the most likely to avoid the drop...as mentioned before we desperately need to win the Barnet and Chesterfield games, and need something against Stevenage.

It's patently clear that we are by far the worst team in the league. The only slight glimmer we have is that the bottom two don't have enough to catch us. It's clear that Chesterfield do. The thing with us is that when we are bad, we are truly awful and no amount of changing the players or the manager changes anything. When we get on one of these non winning runs we are so adept at, there is no changing it. It's clear that there is a deep and long lasting negative cloud hanging over the club that never goes away.

To all those saying chesterfield and Barnet are worse than us, on the evidence of the games this weekend (so far in Chesterfield case) that is manifestly untrue. Barnet are crap like us but have Akinde who at least looks lively up front, way better than any of our strikers. Also sweeney in the middle looked bette than anything we have to offer to me. Those 2 players make them a stiffer proposition than us. Chesterfield look like they would absolutely destroy us at the minute, far superior. I just hope their bad 2nd half form comes into play. Undobtedly we are by far the worst team in the league now, and being relegated seems seems a near certainty, finishing bottom seems probable.

In football, every now and then, the team that isn’t expected to win, wins. That’s the beauty of it.

The problem for us, is that we are an exception to the rule. We can’t even look like pulling off the odd ‘shock’ result (if you can call it that, when you’re in the same league.)

Remember when we used to say that in league 2 anyone can beat anyone on their day? Well, we don’t have them days anymore.

We’re copulated.

Barnet are down and have been most of the season.
It’s now between us and Chesterfield.

This is the third time Fenty has made the same mistakes.
First time he got away with it because of the Luton shenanigans.
Second time You would have thought that would have given him a warning but no we walked straight into relegation.
Third time he’s learnt intercourse all from the first two.
What an absolute idiot of a man.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

The cloud has a name.

I'd add FGR and Port Vale to that list still.

What's even more depressing is that both Tranmere and Eastleigh were infinitely better than us yesterday. This team would struggle in the conference let alone staying in league 2.
Someone said recently we could go the rest of the season without winning and that prospect is looking very realistic.

At least last time we strung a few results together and had a bit of fight. This is just shite, week in week out. We've not kept a clean sheet for 17 matches and we've conceded EIGHTEEN in our last 6 away games. We HAVE to somehow scrape a win on Friday.

Chesterfield have a habit of conceding late on, so maybe Notts can still get something out of the game?

Or am I just deluding myself........as usual.

Us and Chesterfield and that’s what it boils down to now mate

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Afraid Chesterfield are the better team and on a his showing will win at BP, as Notts County can't have another off day when they come they'll win also, it's not looking good, the only thing to look forward to this summer will be Fenty's bar-b- que,

Granted Chesterfield are well up for this but Notts do not look like a team at the top end of the table

Poor marking from the corner allowed the first to go in and they were a shambles at the back for the second.

They’ve more or less gifted the game to Chesterfield today

This game just shows how poor this league is and therefore shows how terrible we are that we can't win a game in it for 3 months. The only team i've seen that looked really good was Accrington, which shows it's not about budgets, it's about planning and know how- two things we don't possess and haven't for some time.

We're going to finish bottom. The two teams below us have easier run-ins and we have no form.

We have got to win all our 4 home games now,

You have seen the light at last have you Rob?

According to you there was no chance of us going down because the bookies said so.

It has been obvious to a blind man and his dog for weeks that we were going down. No midfield, no strikers and conceding goals by the hat full.

Add to that x many games without a win, no new manager bounce and fed up fans and there is no way we can arrest the slide.

Fenty wants running out of town for letting this happen - an arrogant and egotistical man who has on his own brought a great club to its knees.

I genuinely think the club will fold. I'm not going next year if Fenty is still involved, I've had enough of him. I could almost put up with incompetence but it's the contempt he has for us, the people who have funded this club far more collectively than he is in the last 16 years, which means he can fuck off.

I think we are down now, and this afternoon feels similar to that day at Burton for me.

5 points in the last 18 games equates to 2 points in the remaining 7 to play. 39 points won't keep us up, we need another 10 points - which would have to be at least 3 wins. There's not even a faint glimmer of hope in this lot - the fact Barnet, who have been dead and buried for months, have got 3x as many points as us in the last 100 days tells us enough.

Time for Fenty to show some anger and some fight, terminate a few contracts. It won't achieve anything financially, with the wage-bill, but he may as well limit the impact on the gate receipts if we had a leader that didn't take no excrement and said enough is enough.

If we miraculously stay up - and he spouts the same old rhetoric about a "play-off/promotion push next season" then I shan't be bothering next season as he's clearly learnt nothing. Even if we stay up, there needs to be fireworks in that boardroom this summer - you don't serve a six year prison sentence to make the same mistakes over and over again.

Some clubs would give their left arm for the support we have. Dare I say Mr Fenty, you are "spoilt"

Sadly I feel the Chesterfield result  will send us down, other teams around us are rallying and showing a bit of fight whilst we seem incapable of even scoring, let alone winning.
The fact that this will mean it has happened twice in 8 years is an absolute disgrace and the fault is entirely Fenty's, his refusal to remove his hopeless mate Slade and equally culpable Wilkinson (who unbelievably is still at the club) until after the transfer window is beyond forgiveable and Fenty should hang his head in shame ( although his  over inflated ego won't allow that)
Just go Fenty and don't darken the doors of GTFC again.

There is nothing that Fenty can do other than writing off his loans and stepping away from the club.

IF that were to happen I would buy my season ticket like I have for over 20 years BUT I don't expect it too and as it stands I feel like many others. I'm finished with GTFC not because we are shite but because of John Fenty

Football is a results game. At least for managers. So why not for owners?

Does Fenty have what it takes to run a successful league club? We let's look at the last four league seasons and see what the results tell us.

2008-09. 22nd place, 41 points. Relegation avoided only because Luton had a 30 point deduction. On the field of play we were the second worse team in England.
2009-10. Relegated.44 points. Second worse team in England.
2016-17. Finished 14th.
2017-18  Looking like relegation again.

During these four seasons we have had 7 managers!

Draw your own conclusions.

It's already happened twice. This will be the third. We got away with the first one. Also, the worst winless runs in our history have all been in recent times.

Wow! When you write it down, it's staggering.

This in spades. I don't mind us being shite, we've been shite through most of the years I've supported Town cause I started going in 1999. I would support Town in whatever division they're in. But Fenty clearly believes he's bigger than the club, he's such an egotistical wanker that he refuses to give up his stranglehold on the club to the detriment of everyone else. If he had any humility at all he'd accept that the multitude of horrendous errors he's made and the fact he has failed to learn from past mistakes means he should write off at least a significant percentage of his loans. But he won't because he's a narcissist with a God complex. I'll return to BP when we're Grimsby Town FC again, not John Fenty FC.

Afraid I'll have to add my name to the list of people who won't go again if we go down unless Fenty leaves the club. I'm at an age where I've got other priorities and can't justify wasting time, money and emotions on a club that is only set up to suit one person's agenda.

Well judging by that, we've got no chance. I don't think we've not played as well as that all season, nevermind during this run. They obviously don't do it often but they are 100% more likely to stay up than we are.

We were 11/2 to be relegated 2 weeks ago, it's now 7/4 and I think even that is a generous price ( although it would give no pleasure in collecting)

Still all to play for. It was inevitable that one of the teams below us would win. This will go right down to the wire.

Fenty needs to commit to writing his loans off and leaving. It’s clearly in the best interests of the club.

He won't be getting any more of my money either. He's a cheapskate who promises the earth and never delivers. Hurst repeated last night that he is now working with honest people pulling in the same direction.

If we go down I'm done with it too, followed Town since early 80's season ticket most years since then.. fed up feeling so low every weekend. The board have to go the way the club is run is totally unacceptable.

You should read my posts more carefully. I was suggesting the prices were wrong. I actually recommended betting on us at 50/1 and 40/1. I still think we are very good value at anything better than Evens. We've been consistently overpriced all season to go down. We were over 100/1 at one stage. For all that the run we're on is a Black Swan Event, something you'd only expect to see once in a hundred years. The points total this year to stay up is going to be ridicuolously low. We would have been much longer odds had the bookies known the actual points total that will eventually be required.

I think I'm still in disbelief that we're in such a shocking situation, it doesn't feel real. I'm just waiting for reality to set in, and it's going to be an horrific moment.

See my post about feeling sick.Chesterfields second was that horrific moment for me.now starting to feel depressed as I contemplate the fa trophy,a half empty b.p. away trips to god forsaken towns we've never heard of, getting dicked at home by a succession of part timers, live games on BT sports knowing full well that they're only showing it coz there's nothing else available, playing in front of crowds of 500, barrow away on inevitably the coldest, wettest night of the year. Watching another set of inept new signings who can barely control a ball, let alone pass it,reading about semi decent players who turn us down because its non league, the away followings that barely reach double figures, fa cup 4 the qualifying round ,.and there's probably more downers to add to that list

I'm absolutely staggered that we're still a longer price than Chesterfield to go down. We've scored 2 goals from open play in 10 games. Chesterfield have just wiped the floor with a promotion chasing side. I can't get my head around how anyone could think we've more chance of staying up than they have.

According to the bookies (and no this doesn't mean this I what I think will happen) Barnet have a 86% chance of being relegated, Chesterfield a 71% chance and us only 31%. It's just been wrong for weeks. In my mind we're probably around 60%.

We must be heading for a record - worst 2nd half of a season ever. Can't be many teams who go 25 games without a win? Remember Millwall being top at Xmas and then being relegated. I don't think they were winless though

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

The bookies know no more than you or I. The odds just represent the current standings and I have no idea why you often refer to them. It has no bearing whatsoever on the actual outcome.

You managed it didn't you? How many games have you been to this season? Last season? The non league years? Don't single me out to tell me how i feel and what i will do. I'm not talking relegation either, i'm talking about not supporting this board any more, no matter what division we are in next season. The things that have come out of the club this season are beyond sh1t football. The club stinks and the board are smug, arrogant individuals who have taken us for granted way too long and don't deserve our support.

And to do it twice in 8 years is really something.

I think York didn't win any of their last 20 when they went down (the first time).

I'm with you Ginny.

It doesn't mater what division we are in next season, unless there is significant change at the top of the club I will not renew my season ticket. Once that happens I doubt I will be back

The other side of the coin is that if Fenty left and no longer had a stranglehold on the club I would buy a s/t whatever level we are at.

I've felt for a few weeks now that we are destined for the drop, the lack of action before the transfer window, that lack of quality being brought in during the transfer window, the excuses of over inflated prices for players, and ultimately giving someone more time when they clearly didn't deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt almost criminal. Fenty says he is a fan, the situation we find ourselves with Fenty at the helm waiting on football fortune without doing something to attract that football fortune smacks of reactive not proactive, a man who has delivered the worst teams, the most windless runs and most unattractive football and comes out with crap like he doesn't want to devalue the product. Fenty you are out of your depth and have been since you took over, fair enough you had a go as you put your cash in but you haven't invested anything for the last 5 years, enough is enough, you are killing this club, employ someone who can run the club, Accrington are doing it, sort it out.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

Two reasons. 1) they give an objective assessment of where things stand, it's all about probabilities, and football is a game of chance. 2) because they are frequently wrong, largely due to people over backing the status quo (i.e. the big clubs will always come good). I always follow a few markets very closely. When I backed Leicester at 2000/1 it was after 10 games and they were around 6th I think. I backed Shrewsbury this year to get promoted at around 66/1 and they were in the top 4 at the time if I recall! These days I seem to make more money on the long-term markets than I do on betting on individual matches.

It was bound to happen sooner or later we keep on losing without any chances being made we look and feel doomed the mindset is all wrong.

Until the players address this start getting their heads up and trying even when going behind we are out of the league. FFS FIGHT, FIGHT AND FIGHT AGAIN.

Considering some on here think they are worse than us they created more chances in that game than we have in weeks.

And it will be a sodomist if an ex Town player helps us get relegated.

25 game winless run.

Final game at a club in their first league season.
