Humberside might have changed Brown's mind about joining us,

He spoke to his mates at RH and they could have  told him all the problems they have had with our non chairman.

Wouldn't have minded Brown but if he doesn't have the confidence to the job in hand it might be a lucky escape for us.
We are in a mess that's for sure but any manager worth his salt  could sort it out. Whoever takes the job, if he can't save us he's not going to be the long term solution the club desperately needs. Utm

Brown is 58, and his best days are behind him, we could do with someone 20 years younger who has yet to make their reputation in the management game.

Probably he would always be looking for a more lucrative contract elsewhere even if he had signed for us, thats football, at his age he would  still dream Championship minimum

It's also worth remembering that he's still on gardening leave. So he's still being paid his Southend salary.

. A new manager has the chance to bring in a whole raft of players

Didn't the last two do that?
