So were all in agreement. Southwell needs to grow up. The change worked. The managers arent really to blame for being 3-0 down after 17 minutes and the team selection at the start was what most/everyone would've gone with before the game.
I hope so.

It took a lot of getting there, but yes, this is spot on.

Cant believe people are blaming it on the managers. That formation has worked all season, yet we go 3-0 down early on and all of a sudden they are clueless. Embarrassing comments.
As for Southwell. Dont blame him for being drunk off, but stupid reaction to walk down the tunnel, well try. I hope he realises now it was tactical and not personal, and if he doesn't well he's a bit dim.
Absolutely spot on. Until people in general and players in particular stop seeing substitution as a form of punishment these issues are going to keep reappearing...

Did you carry out a survey?
Most of the fans near me could see we were desperate for change especially after being critical in the last home game for subs being like for like, and totally agreed with the decision!
The switch made sense, and worked.
Can't understand anyone being critical of the managers being power mad?? Of course they have power, they are in charge of the team!! It is their heads on the block and they have to make the decisions.
Good to see old age hasn't addled your brain yet....

What's abundantly clear is that Shorty and Shouty don't seem to account for how the opposition might line up. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I don't see us getting promotion under their watch.

It shouldn't matter how the opposition lines up too much IMO, they shud be worrying how we line up, especially at home!

We were 3-0 down in the opening quarter of hour. Clearly whatever our game plan was it wasn't working and the game was getting away from us. Had they left it the game cold have been well and truly gone. The managers decided to act swiftly.
Some fans will moan about the decision- had they left it as it was some fans would have whinged at the indecisiveness of the management. FACT -fans will usually fine something to moan about especially if the team is losing.
The bosses clearly felt the game was being lost in the middle of the park so put Dis on to combat that resuting in a change of tactics. Someone was going to sacrificed, it was probably going to be a striker ( should we have gone 3 at the back instead with 75 minutes or so left?? really ?). In this scenario do you take off your young inexperienced striker or your old head. ? They chose to keep Elds on , presumably 'cos they felt he would hold the ball up better on his own.
Now Dayle was disappointed to be taken off. He has every right to feel that way but this is a TEAM game and decisions are made for the benefit of the TEAM. The decision was vindicated as we changed the flow of the game and indeed went on to dominant proceedings- At 3-2 i thought we would go on to at least get a draw and were possibly unlucky not to- for 70 minutes we were the far better team.
Dayle was not happy and was going to storm off down the tunnel- Scott has grabbed and made him sit on the bench. Rigthtly so - again its a TEAM game and he needed to show suport for the lads whatever his disappointed of being taken off. Ok he's a young lad but sitting solemn face for the rest of the game , arms crossed, bottom lip on the floor he just came across a teenager in a teenage sulk (which actually is probably what it was) but he needs to look at it as taking one for the team and get over it. Maybe one of the bosses (maybe Hurst the nice one) should have put an arm round him and have a little word to explain it to him and say it was a tactical substitution and in no way reflected the lads own performance (hell he hasn't time to have a bad game had he ?).
The game was lost early but we still almost managed to pull out a result. Just one of those days - put a line under it and move on. last week Scott & Hurst were the bees knees and there was no stopping us-1 week later, a bad result and they're excrement again.
thats football i suppose.

Some people are so nasty on here, don't you lot think all the abuse will affect him? FFS people leave the kid alone you nasty sh1ts. Go and find a puppy to kick or whatever it is you do for entertainment.

| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

They did not expect our team to commit crimes against defending either, to be fair them both. If we bounce back with a win in the next game, all will be forgiven.
