Cases like this are never clear cut. They didn't drug her, or hold a knife to her throat. She had a few drinks by her own volition. Now if you believe what the two men said she willingly got into a taxi, willingly went into the room, and as the jury seem to believe, willingly had sex with one man. As the judgement stands the jury believe she did not consent to sex with the second man.
The problem here is at what point does a drink become too much drink. If she had a couple of drinks and then had sex, but regretted it the morning after, could she still claim rape as if she'd been stone cold sober she wouldn't have consented? How many men on here have pulled last thing on a Saturday night, with beer goggles in full effect, and woken up next to the bride of wolfman, a woman you wouldn't touch with a barge pole if you where sober? Surely, if you had sex with her, but wouldn't have done if you'd been sober, you have a good reason to claim rape?
Is this also a good defence in other cases? "Sorry your onner, I gave him a good kickin, broke three of his ribs anthat, but I'd never have done it if I hadn't a few pints"
A good friend of mine was a accused of the same thing. He was accused of rape, which he claimed was consensual. His life was torn to pieces on the accusation of a woman who claimed she was too drunk to give consent, this despite the fact she climbed over a gate for the romantic encounter, and DNA test later proved she'd had sex with three different men that night(not at the same time). My friend was the only one to come forward after a police appeal, purely because he knew he had done nothing wrong, but he had the whole thing pinned on him. She later withdrew the accusation, and admitted she'd consented, but had panicked and claimed rape when her boyfriend found out. As it turns out this was also the third time she'd done this.
Before the blazing torches and pitch forks come out, I abhor rape, it is one of the worst crimes a man can carry out, and in genuine cases the best punishement involves a rusty knife and a pair of new earings. But I also hate the fact that a woman can get drunk, have a drunken tryst, regret it in the morning and then blame it on someone else.

The men and women who cry rape when it really wasn't rape but simply a drunken encounter which they now regret make it much harder for those that have been well and truly raped. It wastes police time, can ruin lives, both their own and the accused and just makes a mockery of things.
How many people on here would go near this girl? Very few, I am by no means saying I agree with rape etc but you would think twice just incase she did go and chuck some accusations around...I've been working with a girl who has done just this an what is more worrying, she will do it again because like anything there are some people who like to e centre of attention and only care about themselves and don't look at te big picture.
On the flip side, if Evans wasn't invites to join in, have a go or whatever you want to call it then he shouldhave refused but according to the jury and evidence he didn't therefore he needs to face the penalties.
Interesting that on Thursday a woman was sent to jail for perverting the cause of justice, wasting police time and false accusation of rape but only got 18 month i think...should the punishment for fabricating these stories be as high as it is for the actual crime? Someone's life still gets ruined? Purely playing devils advocate here of course.
Back to football, he has let his team down too. I suspect that if this had happened in October the blades might have had a different outcome in the league...

Yes i understand your view. However youngster who have watched sheffield united this season and have seen Evans score 35 goals are clear going to idolise him, whether you educate them or not they will have seen him step foot on the football pitch and score goals and cleary want to do what he does.
Precisely, the way everybody idolises Liam Hearn on here. I don't understand why he should be banned from football when he's realised either, he's served the punishment the courts gave him, why should it carry on after?

Who's to say she gave them permission just to get some compo cos there are some wicked woman about. It's opened a new can of worms to me, im not saying Evans is guilty or innocent but just imagine you taking a lass back to her house or vice versa then you have sex, but then she claims she was rapped or did not give any consent, are we suppose to walk around withsome form of consent slip.

The Fishy jury is in. None of them have been in the trial for the past fortnight but they've read a 500 word article on the internet a couple of hours ago and are now ideally placed to share their expert opinion.
I was just browsing the on line news and saw that his team-mate Connor Brown has been suspended by SUFC... I wouldn't be surprised to see him in court too for what he's put out there in the public domain with his tweets.... could be in big trouble I also didn't realise that our ex Man City loanee Javan Vidal had been out with Evans on the night in question and got involved in a court case of his own after it all kicked off at "The Godfather" kebab shop http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._v_Evans_and_McDonaldhttp://menmedia.co.uk/manchest.....-woman-during-brawl-

Wow. Kicking a woman shows an "impeccable character" these days, apparently! You live and learn.

Hmmm. Yes he went way OTT but all AFTER she'd head butted him.. I think I'd probably have gone berserker if some tart had butted me as well. Not to that extent though I'm sure... There's a line when it comes to self defence...

If i were convicted of a crime such as rape, I wouldnt be allowed to practice my profession upon release, nor would many people in lower paid jobs than pro football! As the judge says, he has thrown away a promising career. . . Personally, I hope he never works again and has a life of poverty, drug addiction, misery and pain!
