If this was murder both would've gone down for it...either the other lad had a flipping great legal team or he just genuinely wasn't guilty...Evans on the other hand, it should be a career ender but I suspect it won't be. Someone will take a punt on him.

I'm sure he will have a hard time in the nick unless he gets shifted to a jail which specialises in working with sex offenders, whatton prison type place.

It'll be a big shock for him though, 20 hour bang up, urine stained walls and the risk that people will want to pick him as a target.

The whole situation seems a bit bizarre to me. Like others have mentioned, does seem strange that one was convicted and the other wasn't. Strange that she seems to remember sleeping with McDonald, but was unaware of Ched Evans' involvement. I know a few lads from Rhyll who say that the girl involved has previously accused two others of rape but nothing came of it. Wouldn't surprise me if she recognised Evans' as a footballer seeing as they're both from the area and saw it as a to make some money or infamy. Something else that struck me as a bit weird is that there seems to have been no tests made on the girl to see how drunk she was or if she had any drugs in her system as she claimed to have been spiked.

intercourse knows how McDonald has got away with it though. Especially as it all revolves around her being too drunk to consent, and he was the one who picked her up as she was stumbling down the street.

The only difference I can really see is that he came out of the room and told the hotel staff that she was ill, whereas Evans just did one out of the Fire Exit.

There you go. I mean they're both guilty or they're both innocent right? If she was too intoxicated to consent to one but not the other...just seems like there's a case for reasonable doubt. Mind you, I wasn't in court, and I haven't seen any of the evidence, so really I don't know anything.

Aaron's comment showed why he gets the abuse he does on here. The mind boggles.

Anyway back on topic - Im also confused as to why the other guy was found not guilty. Surely she was in an unfit state to say she wanted it with him as well. As the hotel staff reported her arriving heavily drunk!!

It doesn't make sense to me on a few levels, not because he's a footballer but because it doesn't seem a very reliable story.

First of all they clear McDonald but convict Evans, when the girl put in an allegation of rape against BOTH of them. Meaning she's claiming she didn't consent to either of them, so why clear one and not the other? They both had sex with her and surely if she was 'too drunk' to consent to one she was too drunk to consent to both? Are they trying to claim that she got battered beyond having any control, poked a McDonald but all of a sudden was too drunk to take them both on so Evans is guilty? It doesn't work out. Regardless of whether you say that she had consented to McDonald earlier on, she was still in the same state when Evans got involved unless McDonald has a vodka bottle for a member!

Secondly and more importantly for me the girl said she cannot remember anything. So how does she know what she said to these guys? These two guys said under oath that she did. So who do we believe here, a girl who admitted she doesn't know what happened or the guys possibly facing prison who were in a state to remember what did happen? It's a tough one but it's not clear cut, so you cannot take a mans freedom for FIVE YEARS because a girl who can't remember something thinks she said no to.

Saying all this, they were both stupid for just doing it regardless of whether she said yes or not. Putting yourself in that situation as a footballer is daft given the history of women claiming rape against footballers.

Maybey she did say no and maybey today's verdict to put one of them away is the correct one and if so then good. But I don't agree with this theory that he's a scumbag rapist, I more see the point that he's an absolute flipping idiot. There would've been no aggressive malice in it, nor do I think he thought for one second that she was in no fit state, if he did he wouldn't had done it. Everything said though, there's just too many doubts for it to be a completely safe conviction.
