I live in Sheffield, so obviously there's a bit of 'banter' between fans, but I'd honestly be happier if I was a United fan than if I was a fan of Wednesday or any other team. There is no way I could cheer on someone capable of this. Besides, this is way more important than football.

It's a bit odd that he's been sent down but his mate who picked up the girl and got in there first, so to speak, was acquitted.

I wonder why this happened? If one was guilty (as seems probable from the reports), why wasn't the other?

All I can guess from that report is that the jury think it may have been consensual with the friend but not with Evans. You'd think the friend was at least guilty of some kind of complicity in Evans' crime but I guess that wasn't what he was accused of.

Got to remember in all this that the victim, people on other social networking sights have been sympathetic to Sheff Utd but should be the girl getting all the sympathy. What Ched Evans did was a wicked thing. I find it disgusting that he only received five years, especially knowing the fact he will be out withing two years.

In my opinion he should be banned from playing professional football ever again, especially as young kids will look to him as a role model. Its should be if any professional footballer commits any crime and is committed then the FA should ban them for life. Lee Hughes and Marlon King have got 2nd chances and will be earning vast sums of money and young kids will be idolising them and they have committed horrific crimes. Think with this case occurring it should give the FA the right opportunity to act.

Just had a text from a mate who's an Exeter City fan. They play Sheff Utd at home last game of the season. As only a miracle will keep Exeter up this season they've already got their chant ready.

"Down with Ched Evans, we're going down with Ched Evans"
