The Fishy jury is in. None of them have been in the trial for the past fortnight but they've read a 500 word article on the internet  a couple of hours ago and are now ideally placed to share their expert opinion.

In my opinion he should be banned from playing professional football ever again, especially as young kids will look to him as a role model. Its should be if any professional footballer commits any crime and is committed then the FA should ban them for life. Lee Hughes and Marlon King have got 2nd chances and will be earning vast sums of money and young kids will be idolising them and they have committed horrific crimes. Think with this case occurring it should give the FA the right opportunity to act.

The problem here is the urine poor standard of parenting in this country that perpetuates this idea that if someone is on the television, or in a newspaper, they are a role model.

This is a message for everyone on here - If you are only able to educate children to a level where they are unable differentiate between a role model and rapist, then please keep your member in your trousers.

Just had a text from a mate who's an Exeter City fan. They play Sheff Utd at home last game of the season. As only a miracle will keep Exeter up this season they've already got their chant ready.

"Down with Ched Evans, we're going down with Ched Evans"

I had no idea he was on a charge - the first I knew of this was a post on FB from an Owls fan

Que sera sera, whatever will be will be, Ched's going to HMP....

Aaron's comment showed why he gets the abuse he does on here. The mind boggles.

Anyway back on topic - Im also confused as to why the other guy was found not guilty. Surely she was in an unfit state to say she wanted it with him as well. As the hotel staff reported her arriving heavily drunk!!

Exactly.
So someone MIGHT have got it wrong ?

These comments at aarons expense are simply wrong IMO.
Seems to me he's suggesting black isn't white but gets put down by those suggesting white isn't black.
But it's becoming an all too familiar theme in general on here for me.

Maringer for someone of your intelligence, you should know better too IMO.
Just the final straw of cr*p tbh and Scott's attitude in the interview (same kind of thing for me) wasn't much better either IMO (poor role model !  ).

Never say never and nothing to do with what's on the pitch or in the boardroom (though the general attitude of the trust board concerns me), I just won't support what I personally perceive to be a growing bullying culture at the club (especially of a loyal 15 year old supporter).

But look on the bright side - least it's now + there's 1 less annoying supporter to have to "worry" (is that the key word at GTFC ?) about.
So for some it's probably a great thing and it might help the club shoot up next season - I sincerely hope so.
Good luck everyone, I'll be urging Town on sat at my computer.

Yes i understand your view. However youngster who have watched sheffield united this season and have seen Evans score 35 goals are clear going to idolise him, whether you educate them or not they will have seen him step foot on the football pitch and score goals and cleary want to do what he does.

What happens when your role model becomes a rapist, though?

I like it you are all calling him, just cos he's been found guilty that does not mean he did anything, sometimes the jury are wrong

i was ready to hang Evans but presented with your robust watertight argument i have changed my mind, it is now obvious to me the girl was a slapper and Evans should be acquitted and made Lord Mayor of Sheffield !! If only he had not hired the expensive QC and booked the new Barrymore instead.

Why are we bringing kids up to admire the morals of footballers though?

Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but there needs to be a distinction between what they do on the pitch and what they do for the rest of the week and this is where parents should, you know, do some parenting and help children make that distinction.

It doesn't make sense to me on a few levels, not because he's a footballer but because it doesn't seem a very reliable story.

First of all they clear McDonald but convict Evans, when the girl put in an allegation of rape against BOTH of them. Meaning she's claiming she didn't consent to either of them, so why clear one and not the other? They both had sex with her and surely if she was 'too drunk' to consent to one she was too drunk to consent to both? Are they trying to claim that she got battered beyond having any control, poked a McDonald but all of a sudden was too drunk to take them both on so Evans is guilty? It doesn't work out. Regardless of whether you say that she had consented to McDonald earlier on, she was still in the same state when Evans got involved unless McDonald has a vodka bottle for a member!

Secondly and more importantly for me the girl said she cannot remember anything. So how does she know what she said to these guys? These two guys said under oath that she did. So who do we believe here, a girl who admitted she doesn't know what happened or the guys possibly facing prison who were in a state to remember what did happen? It's a tough one but it's not clear cut, so you cannot take a mans freedom for FIVE YEARS because a girl who can't remember something thinks she said no to.

Saying all this, they were both stupid for just doing it regardless of whether she said yes or not. Putting yourself in that situation as a footballer is daft given the history of women claiming rape against footballers.

Maybey she did say no and maybey today's verdict to put one of them away is the correct one and if so then good. But I don't agree with this theory that he's a scumbag rapist, I more see the point that he's an absolute flipping idiot. There would've been no aggressive malice in it, nor do I think he thought for one second that she was in no fit state, if he did he wouldn't had done it. Everything said though, there's just too many doubts for it to be a completely safe conviction.

Both should have been done for rape but without evidence proving she was drugged then there has to be reasonable doubt and they would have got off.  Taking advantage of someone who is either off their face drunk or away with the fairies on drugs is a sex predator.  A sex predator gets their kicks were they can,  his actions that night put him in that category.  It won't be the last time we hear about something like this, it's in some players ego's.

You're not being unrealistic at all. If in the future Ched Evans signs for another professional football team and starts scoring goals for them are people suggesting that young fans of that club will think 'I idolise him and to emulate him will take up rape as a hobby'. If that's the case then the parenting has probably been a bit on the weak side.
