Please for god's sake someone do something.  This club is dead, gone, no more!

My season ticket will be on Fentys desk via Royal mail, on Wednesday morning!  YOu can keep the £300 for the club John, but you can stick your manager and your cheap option number 2 where the flipping sun doesn't shine.

I don't think there will ever be enough time for him to get it right, he simply doesn't have the management magic, its no disgrace he should just drop down to head coach and we get someone in to MANAGE us.

Should have got Slade when we had the chance, we would probably be challenging for the play-offs in league 2 this season.

While Woods is clearly not setting the world alight, IF we do win today then our points per game ratio so far would probably be enough to make the playoffs.

Well he managed to intercourse up promotion for us last time with his shenanigans in and around the play off final, so if he'd had some morals we would have been in League One - can't forgive that.

I could delete this thread but i'm big enough to take the abuse from the fans still backing him who are on the way back from the game.

The win is welcome, but its just papering over the cracks, though I'll be as happy as anyone to be proven wrong.

Well done to Croudson today!

Have a go with constructive criticsim all means but Neil Woods is certainly no clown.

He has been a great asset to our club over the years and is very loyal. To call him a clown is very disrespectful. I don't know why people think they can come on here and publicly slate a professional. Just leave out the personal insults eh!

We knew it was going to be a hard season, Luton and oxford fans have said it would be.

Woods and the team need time to settle in to this difficult league. 3 wins, 1 draw and a 2 games lost is not a bad start to a season. I would have taken that before the season started but I did think we may have lost to Crawley and York not H&Y and R&D. UTMM

Yup, i reckon three points a game should just about do it.

But can you see us winning the league if we play like we did today every week ?

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I'm pleased you said that... I got the impression you had something personal against NW, obviously I was wrong and you do just want the best for GTFC.

I guess we all want the same but just see getting the best for our club in different ways...

I do support NW and do think he will turn out to be a success, I am getting a little concerned at some of the performances but we are new to this league and with new players etc, etc... I'm not saying this is an excuse but mentioning what I believe are valid points.

If we was playing so bad and not picking up points, then I would be worried but as we are picking up the points regardless of the pitiful displays, I will carry on supporting NW but I don't want to see or expect to see the same displays regardless of how many points we pick up throughout the season, if I do then I will question whether NW is the right man...

Great, all we have to do is to make a special application to the BSP to play histon at home every week.

Yup, i reckon three points a game should just about do it.

But can you see us winning the league if we play like we did today every week ?

Not a chance but I cannot see how Woods could be sacked if we are picking up points. I said from the start that we will finish in the top 10. Where exactly remains to be seen but most on here had Luton promoted even before 14th August and they have lost 3-0 to Tamworth and scraped a draw at home to Hayes &Yeading.

There will be many ups and downs during the coming months and perhaps we need to keep calm and see where we are in the new year-hopefully within striking distance of the play off places at least

Well, we're within 3 points of the top. Luton aren't doing that well.

With virtually a new first team, we're doing alright. As the team gels we'll perform better. Ademeno and Gobbern are getting fit now. Coulson will be back before we know it and we'll have competition!

Neither can I.  Wasn't trying to convey that message, but he will need things to improve to be happy with his lot.  He still has quite a way to go IMO.  I backed Neil from the off, but would be lying if I said that doubts weren't creeping in.  However, nobody should even be thinking about his position before X'mas at the very very earliest. Let's hope by then the midfield is sorted and we can relax a bit.

If we was playing so bad and not picking up points, then I would be worried but as we are picking up the points regardless of the pitiful displays, I will carry on supporting NW but I don't want to see or expect to see the same displays regardless of how many points we pick up throughout the season, if I do then I will question whether NW is the right man...

ive nothing personal against woods but i strongly believe with him in charge we will not be leaving this league and the gate suggests that many agree with me and when he comes out with hes suprised at the power of some of the teams FFS

I think you are right to have your doubts given the manner of the performances.

Lots are saying oh well we got the three points so that's all that matters, well conversely we could look at it and saw we had a lucky pen that allowed us to get back into it today and barely scraped a win against 10 men Crawly - what happens when the luck doesn't flow our way will the wins dry up? I guess we will see, but surely  if we continue to play as poorly throughout games as we have, come the end of the season we will have lost more than we have won.

Have a go with constructive criticsim all means but Neil Woods is certainly no clown.

He has been a great asset to our club over the years and is very loyal. To call him a clown is very disrespectful. I don't know why people think they can come on here and publicly slate a professional. Just leave out the personal insults eh!

Thats true, clowns are entertaining and bring joy to their audience..

You have to remember we had a few players out today. In my opinion if we get a GOOD centre midfielder in and play Cummins as the holding player then that will sort out the team and we will be good enough for the play offs.

Its a results business. How many teams do people say this when teams are playing well but not picking up points? No reason it can't apply in this situation.

You have to remember that Rushton had more than a few players out on Saturday and whopped us 4-1.

Very true! There was a difference though icey - last year we were up the creek with no paddle so any result was good regardless of how we got it. To get promotion means at the very least having some sort of style and plan to get results consistently over the season. I'm not a kick and rush merchant but I'd accept a more direct style if we did it every week, frightened other sides with our pace and determination and scored goals.

That may be because we don't do it very well   and we don't have a player up front who can put defenders under pressure. Maybe Corner could do that?

All good teams have a Plan B. We don't even seem to have a Plan A yet.

not even looked at the table yet and wont do for a while because the league is yet to settle down.
I have seen 4 of the 6 games and we have been far from consistent and i have witnessed the good and the bad. We are yet to see the new team gel properly and we have a few injuries including our star player (bore), we also have not had to dip into the loan market yet. A few loans in key positions to cover injuries and we will be fine, if we keep picking points up we will have a decent season, this is the level we are playing at teams come and try to be difficult to beat hence they are difficult to beat. It doesnt make home games pretty but it is a fact of life.

i personally do not rate woodsie as a manager but surely after 6 games this is not the correct thing to do, surely you need some to give him time to let the players gel etc. give him till early october and if we are still playing like this its obviously his time to be shown the exit but untill then i don't think you can really sack a manager UTM

It is too early to assess NW as manager this season, but there are worries.

3 wins  1 draw  and 2 defeats not too bad really and 3 points from the top. Good signings in pre season.

Concerns are injuries are we unlucky or has pre season not been planned well?
We have only played well once Darlo and OK against York the rest of the performances have been
questionable if not poor and two appalling. Squad settling and injuries yes, but Crawleys new squad and beginning to pick up the  regular wins, unlike ourselves.
We lack consistancy and we seem to have no back up plans when it goes pear shaped, and why have we no back up keeper on the bench Arthur is probably out for much longer due to having to play on against R&D.

Within the next six games we need to sign a creative midfielder, improve the performances and win probably 4 of those six games, some convincingly for me to be settled that NW is the right man to take to club forward. Before the season started JF seemed to indicate that things may take a bit of time to settle down and that we may not hit the ground running, I just wonder if the management calculated that things may not be quite right at the start and it would take a few games for the team to settle.

At some point we need to stop learning from losing games and start applying what has been learnt by winning consistantly and become a real and formidable force. NW has had mch to sort but has also had much more time than most managers to apply what he has learnt.

I don't think the results are relevant I think the performaces say everything and we have been extremely poor.  We are doomed unless things improve massively

Hehehehe.

Don't you just love the fishy, last season I remember the experts on here saying damn the performances we just need to win any whichway.

I actually meant the results so far.

So forgetting that the results have been bad enough, our performances had been worse. As suggested if we had got the results that would have been fine but we are not getting results.  Therefore as we are so poor are we likely to get any better, are we likely to start actually picking up any results!

Apart from from a 20 minute spell against Darlo, we've been dire! However, this is a results business and unless we aren't consistently winning and unless we aren't in or around the play-offs come Christmas then Woods has to go. Until then we need to support the lads and Neil.

Whether or not I believe this current tradition of playing shite and winning will continue is irrelevant at the moment and that's also the case for my beliefs about Neil Woods' capabilities as a manager. As long as we carry on winning, I don't care! I want us to get out of this excrement league!

6 games played-10 points

Is about a form of 75 points overall. Would have comfortably got us into the play offs last season.

At the start of the season I would have settled for the points total we have now at this point. Therefore Woods has done a good job. It is naive beyond belief to expect us to demolish teams in this division. Oxford who are a far bigger team than us took three years to adapt and only then got promoted via the play-offs. Only one team has ever gone straight up. No team has ever gone straight up via winning the league. Get real. Woodsie deserves a whole season and nothing less.

Give Woods until christmas. Out if we are not in playoffs. Although performances have been bad, he signed a lot of players over the summer and they need time to gel.
There is also this "virus" going around the team and a few injuries

All summer long posters bemoaned the fact that for several seasons we needed a solid, 'meathead' type centre back. We were described as being intimidated at the back last season.

We get two such centre backs and we need some different types!

the club just can't win...people sound like Newcastle fans on here, they don't know what they want, we sign the players they want then say it isn't very good, they moan about the midfield when Woodsy stated several times before the season started that that was an area for concern but he couldn't bring in the players he wanted for whatever reason...

It really is getting boring now...i like the winning feeling and to be honest, i don't give a intercourse how we do it, aslong as on a Saturday night or whenever after the match i can go to bed knowing we won and i can go to work smiling knowing that we won...you don't get bonus points for winning 20-0 or playing like flipping barca

We've kept three clean sheets in six games this season. Yes we let in four at the weekend but until it happens again I will steadfastly believe it was just a blip. We let in one yesterday but that was Wood's fault for dithering instead of clearing the ball. And we let in two against Hayes and Yeading one of which was a goal no team in the world could have stopped. So we've let in 7 goals in six games and if four of those goals were in the sort of game which every side has once in a while then its not really looking too bad.

Half the trouble is the way the team is set up to play Chris. They don't know what sort of game they are supposed to be playing. In this league a pairing like these 2 isn't necessarily bad as long as the team has a decent midfield and full backs experienced enough to cover across the back. I don't know how fit Stockdale is but I'd bet he would make a difference to the back four.

The problem isn't Histon or Crawley or York ..... it's all the games as a whole. What's worrying is that Woods seems to lurch from crisis to crisis so the team lacks shape and discipline no matter who is in it. Most of the players are capable, they just need some idea of what they are supposed to do on and off the ball. I think it's called leadership or management or something like that.

Probably the best gamble Woods could make now is the try Wood in midfield and see if his sheer energy will help to boost the team while the manager decides on some kind of tactics that they can practice, follow and stick to.

OR perhaps the mid-fielder Neil is chasing (as per his interview last night) is the answer to the problem.

I think Woods has brought some good players in. They certainly seemed it when we announced it.

The issue I have with his tactics is that we never seem to play our game. We are always constantly adjusting to the opposition. Isn't it time we set out our stall and have them adjust to us.

I want the man to succeed because I know he is passionate about the job.

People are saying it is getting worse each game, well I've only missed Darlington (A) and to be honest I can see where they are coming from.

Surely though, 10pts from August is acceptable? We should have beat York... We should have at least drawn v H&Y...

These are 'the ones that got away' happens in every league (MUFC v Fulham, Palace v Scunny ) to probably every team at some point. I'd rather they happen now, early on, than in March.

I originally posted at one nil down to a flipping pub team - we struggled but just about managed to beat said pub team, with a dubious peno.

The team is excrement, the individuals are good.  The tactics are wrong and there is no planB when 4-4-2 isn't working.  The Assisatant manager seems to do intercourse all, the actual manager also seems to do intercourse all, certainly from the sidelines anyways.  The same manager has been heard moaning in the paper twice already this season that we weren't up for the fight.  Well Neil, they're your players, they're your tactics and if they aint working then its your fault!

As I said on saturday, if we go on to win 5-1 its still time to sack him and all we are doing is papering over the cracks!  When we finish mid table after losing to the likes of Hayes etc, are the pro woods brigade gonna still want him for next season?  Will they intercourse!

As I said on saturday, if we go on to win 5-1 its still time to sack him and all we are doing is papering over the cracks!  When we finish mid table after losing to the likes of Hayes etc, are the pro woods brigade gonna still want him for next season?  Will they intercourse!

Why do you see losing to H&Y etc. as a benchmark for being shit?

We are in this league through our lack of merit, they are there due to their merit.
We have a new team assembled over the summer, a lot of these teams we are playing have already gone through the gel stage and that comes across when they begin to dictate the game.

10pts from August - the most unsettled month really for a new team.
We are 3 goals away from sitting in the playoff place that 75% of this forum voted as the position we wanted to be in.

It's no co-incidence to me that Watt and Kempson (who it was agreed started the season solidly) suddenly start to look shaky when Bore and Ridley had to step down in the same game.

I'm also willing to bet that most of the goals conceded since have come from the wings.I know yesterdays was but i can't speak for Rushden, although listening to the radio,Samuel was getting a roasting ,which Bore probably wouldn't have.

Most teams would take some adjusting to losing both full backs with hundreds of league games between them to be replaced by a pair who probably haven't got a dozen starts between them.

Just a thought like.

OR perhaps the mid-fielder Neil is chasing (as per his interview last night) is the answer to the problem.

Maybe. But the odds are that it won't and that seems to be the way of it. We will always welcome quality recruits but the problem isn't the players. Those who bemoan that it's only August forget that the previous lot of players (admittedly with other issues too) had exactly the same difficulty with Woods for over half a season - he doesn't seem to have any clear battle plan. Or if he does he can't seem to get the troops to understand it.

I'm sure that Samuel's performance unsettled them but Wood was very solid at left back. All the goals came through the middle really except the first which was a free header from a corner.
What appeared to unsettle them more was the strength and power of Rene Howe. He is perfect for this type of football.

Constantly referring to Histon as a "pub team" doesn't make it true. It makes you sound pretty naive to be honest.

Bringing on corner changed the game and we won from my view that was tactically sound.

i'm increasingly getting the feeling that we're the new wrexham and destined like them to hang around this god foresaken division for several seasons. alli know is that i've watched the crawely match where we were 2nd best to 10 men and the rushden game which was just the same old same old that i've been watching for the last 4 seasons. i don't see any improvement from newell's lot 12 months ago ,woods team of 6 months ago or a.b.'s team of 3 years ago. i'm sick to the back teeth of seeing our great away support constantly being served up  disorganised, cleueless performances and being played off the park and easily beaten by a host of mediocre teams. for samuels on saturday read boshell of 12-18 months ago or heslop 3 years ago. the anonymous gobern is the reincarnation of peter till or jamie clarkewhilst kempson and watt on saturday were not much better than watching heywood and hope.

For fuc k sake its 6 games into the season why dont you lot fuc k off and never go back to BP. Sick off you all just fuc k off

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Cant be arsed to quote certain individuals, but...

I go to nealry every game home & away.  I just couldn't make any of the 5 so far this season - didn't stop me purchasing a season ticket though, depsite the man in charge of my beloved team, managing to take us down to the Blue Square last season, and who in my opinion should have been sacked for doing so (He should never have got the job in the first place).

I then decide that Woods will get my backing because of signings like Ademeno and Connell, there's no way these players will settle for midtable obscurity I thought, and the last 6 seasons of watching mercenaries rip our club off and not turn up every flipping week, thats got to be over to I thought....  Low & behold we're 5 games into the season and Woods has slated the team TWICE already for not having the fight in them, who's fault is that?  He needs to be shoving a flipping rocket up peoples arses, and it seems to me he isn't - and if he is it aint a big enough bollocking to be having any effect by the look of it?  That sbecause he's a Youth team coach, not a first team manager!  Maybe I shouldn't have called him a clown, maybe it was a personal attack but at one nil down on saturday listening to RadioHull, I was absolutley fuming.  As it goes my family knows Neil and Dave Moore, and I would say anything to their faces that I would say on here, obvioulsy with a bit more diplomacy, but why shouldn't I voice my opinion?  I don't agree with Woods tactics, I pay my money I'm entitled to voice my opinion!  All the undesrved win did on saturday was PAPER OVER THE CRACKS

I love this club, I would dearly love for Woods to be a success as it means we'd be back in the football League, but I can see problems now, that the proWoods brigade are happy to ignore.  I'm not jumping on a bandwagon just because we're three points off flipping Wimbledon for felicitations sake!  We'll jsut gloss over the diobolical performances at Rushden and at home to Hayes shall we?

Sorry for the rushed reply, hope it makes sense, and the spelling and punctuation police can kiss my bottom!

The performance at Rushden was bad, but so were Rushden and as I said on another thread I don't think we'd have lost had it not been for the Arthur injury. However, not having a keeper on the bench is down to Woods. He isn't very streetwise as a manager and there is no doubt he is still learning the trade. Eventually, he may turn out to be reasonably good manager. Brian Laws was rubbish at Town, OK for the early part of his Scunny tenure and then started to build dynesty there that may ultimately compares with Town's 1978 - 1985 dynesty. I don't think Laws is a top class manager, but look where he is now.

With hindsight Woods was the wrong appointment but we are stuck with him. I think he might get us back up next season, can't see us doing it this season. He might eventually be a decent manager.

My twopennyworth on the subject of our defence is up untill Saturday we were OK, our two centre backs are the best we have had for a long time and they are just whats needed in this non league.

The problem against R& D was that our full backs were not good enough to cope with their two fast raiding wingers putting extra pressure on the central defenders and keeper, and because we have no midfield our defence will always be under pressure, Bore and Ridley were missed in both the last two games.

Please for god's sake someone do something.  This club is dead, gone, no more!

And I thought it couldn't/wouldn't get any worse!

25 games without a win
Relegation out of the football league
Losing and/or being outplayed & outbattled by pub teams most weeks
Not being in the first round of the FA cup for the first time in nealry 120 years

Surely something must happen now. Surely we are not going to see a win over Eastbourne save the manager's skin?

Surely we are ..... unless somebody at BP grows some spherical objects.

Please don't call him a 'fucking clown'. He's a good man who has done his best but it has fallen short. As a player he was a great servant for the club. He is not the man for the job but neither is he a 'fucking clown'. Please remember that.

If you want to apportion blame the direct it at the men who appointed him.

What he deserves is the sack. His record over the past year is totally indefensible.

The longer he stays the more he will tarnish what little reputation he has left.

Best thing he could do is quit. He's given it his best shot, but just has not got what it takes.

I was a very big fan of Neil Woods in his playing days but I have to add that I'm sorry but anyone who signed Samuels. Ridley, Kempson, Watt, Cummins, Hudson and a bunch of crocks and expecting us to be promoted is a clown.

Just imagine if we did sack Woods for getting knocked out of the FA Trophy. We'd be the laughing stock of the whole region.

Please don't call him a 'fucking clown'. He's a good man who has done his best but it has fallen short. As a player he was a great servant for the club. He is not the man for the job but neither is he a 'fucking clown'. Please remember that.

Thirded! Well said KoTK.

I can't help but suspect he's a town fan after a bit of attention.
Actually been some genuinely interesting study done on people like him whether he's Scunny or not.

hes got a central lincoln "i.p." address, this was found via his virgin broadband subscription, scary really innit? if his i.p. address is so easy to obtain what about the rest of his personal details? not that im condoning any type of illegal public information type crime or personal attack on the gentleman you understand, that would be illegal of course.
