Me too, but RH have already confirmed he isn't joining the board, never mind becoming Chairman.

So Fenty could buy some more shares which would solve his problem.

interesting him saying that he hasn't spoken to the new managers and not spoken publicly on club matters - that's deffo aimed at the takeover panel!!

parker now making very worrying staements about the financial future of the club come next may - does he want to be the knight in shining armour that comes riding to our rescue or is he just trying to force fenty's arm for whatever reason?

Fenty chucked mud, Parker throws some back.  Parker has got people in mind he wants as chairman.

Parker knows exactly what he's doing and I suspect Fenty isn't acting without a plan.

Sort it out in private, gents. Not using the club like a child in a divorce.

It sounds bloody worrying to be honest.

We've got two businessmen who have basically said that they won't be putting in money anymore. Parker said he doesn't intend to after this season and Fenty said he doesn't think he'll be expected to now.

I guess we've just got to hope that Parker manages to find someone to take over as chairman and fund the club and him saying that was probably the most interesting part of the interview.

Very guarded talk from Parker, but there were small hints of a takeover with talk of a new Chairman and such in mind. Very guarded but kind of what I'd expect at this early stage as I think Fenty has taken everyone on the blind side with this strange move. But Parker and Fenty are locking horns via the media and that's no good to the people that matter, the fans. This needs clarifying quickly you guys. God knows what the team will make of it tonight

So MP probably not going to financially help the club come end of the season but has increased the shares to 54% and I think Fenty has had enough this has to be very worrying.  In order for JF to take full control he either has to up his shares which he won't.  What the he'll is going on why can't someone just come out and speak the bloody truth.

If you own 54% of a business, you aren't going to let it go down the pan! Mike Parker has said he won't put any more money in at the end of this season but he won't see his investment die surely! He is a very good businessman as we all know.

He mentioned he has spoken to people with a view to finding someone to run the club. Could the people/person he has in mind be the one putting the money in? Is he lining up a completely new benefactor?

What a flippin' shambles this club is.

The two people who are in effect keeping the club going, are posturing at each other in public. Why the hell can't they just get their heads together and sort this out?

The only glimmer of light is maybe Parker isn't being totally truthfull and there are people waiting in the wings to step in.

If we still had 4500 fans at BP for home games, there would be no need for anyone to put cash in.
Luton have 6000 average which is allegedly 800 above their break even costs.
Its all my fault.

What do people expect? Nobody with half a brain is going to announce to a local radio show what they are planning to do in any sort of detail. This is just window dressing. MP knew perfectly well that he had to say something ........ so he did say something ....... without saying anything. Par for the course.

Didn't JF say we would be part time in 2 years time obviously with MP upping his shares has forced JF to resign.  I don't think there is anyone else who would put there money into the club I just don't but I hope I'm very wrong.  What's next if no chairman is appointed administration, leading to points deductions and inevitably relegation.

I fear for GTFC

5,000 needed at every home game for the rest of this season, regardless of results, unfortunately!

There are enough fans around to make it happen, as both directors will stop the underfunding by next year.

No new board member, no investment from outside.... Goodbye Grimsby Town !!

Use it or lose it, it's not just about a bar upstairs, the message was clear across the board... pardon the pun !

Pretty much what I was getting at, it was guarded but nothing of any actual substance that would suggest 'the end of the world' for the club. To me it was just turning up the pressure on John Fenty another notch. Something will give very soon...

The only way I can see a way forward if MP & JF no longer want to finance or chair the club is for the supporters to stand up i.e. Halifax, Chester and FC United Of Manchester.

Fenty has drunk off the only man that has had any money and interest in the club in the last 10 years.

Mike Parker was quite calm during the interview and wanted John Fenty to explain his actions, as no communication had (supposedly) taken place since e mails last week, which said nothing of Take Over panels or resignations.

So , one is telling the truth, and one is not !

The undercurrent is that Parker is looking for other investors from his business and personal connections.

We can only hope that he succeeds and that news is better by the AGM meeting.

I'm glad I only run a one man business and don't have to give public speeches like these two !

Neither would lose out if they became MP's, one may be ditching his role now with the next election in mind as his next move upwards.

Fenty chucked mud, Parker throws some back.  Parker has got people in mind he wants as chairman.

Parker knows exactly what he's doing and I suspect Fenty isn't acting without a plan.

Sort it out in private, gents. Not using the club like a child in a divorce.

I've just listened to MP's interview for a second time and it was clear he had to bite his tongue on a few
occasions with the future in mind.
For what it is worth  (and many will disagree) my take is that Fenty is trying to manufacture reasons for an
exit ( and to be fair in a lot of ways i d'ont blame him) Parker said that  the agreed 500K investment both were to make was a share  investment  on his part and not a loan, to help  balance the books,  something Fenty could have done, but chose to make his a loan, thus making MP the major share holder.
Although  i am not in any way knowledgable on corporate law, if JF wants to become chairman again. the solution seems  simple to me  - convert his loan into shares  as well  and become major shareholder again.
I have big worries for the future of our club - Parker said he wouldn't  help bankroll the club after this season and it seems Fenty is already of the same opinion, without outside investment we are well and truely shafted if these two stick to their guns AND if the bad blood continues ,Fenty could always do what he promised not to and call in his previous loans to the club - if he did, GTFC would cease to exist.
God help our club.

That Pete is spot on, all Fenty has to do is covert the circa £150K he has put in this season in loans into shares - as he originally told Parker he would do.

Now John has always said these loans were benign, if they were really benign then why wouldn't he be prepared to do this? There's only one logical answer

Parker didn't say he wouldn't bankroll the club after this season. He said he wouldn't make a commitment to,which is a subtle difference and mayhe he will make that commitment once other things have fallen into place.

Maybe i'm clutching at straws but as bad as things seem at the moment,we still have a bigger fan base than a lot of other clubs who are surviving down here.Maybe we will just have to cut our cloth accordingly to carry on.

Surely though Ginny 'cutting our cloth' if things deteriorated, means part time and a very much reduced squad, in our outpost  location how could we recruit decent players on a part time basis when there are absolutely no jobs around here to supplement their incomes? IMO that would condemn us to non league indeterminently (no part time teams ever get promoted) and our fan base would dwindle to nothing.

Yes I thought I heard similar ginnywings.

I thought it was something like 'I won't finance it while I am not on the board' or words to that effect. Meaning he currently isn't on the board, so wouldn't. But with him potetially choosing his new Chairman he would be then in the driving seat so could then finance the club again.

I agree I think it would be a downward spiral with all funding coming from decreasing gate receipts.
What we need is an all-out appeal to the plastics in the town to help save their local team by giving their support to a team that actually needs it. Tug at them heart-strings (though not too hard as a lot of them are couch potatoes and would probably have a coronary)

MP resigned from the board because he was lied to.

JF resigns under false circumstances and let's face it, he has engineered his ticket out of the mess he has administered.

MP isn't at fault here, no wonder no one came forward if this is how JF and his puppets act.

Fair point Ginny/Peeler, but if MP is waiting for his chance to take total control, he will have lost a major financial contributor to a loss making business in  JF and unless he is willing to cover twice the investment (unless he can attract another investor) i cannot see him doing it.
Just my opinion.

To be honest i very much doubt he would want to now,i think this episode is an eye opener for Parker, who i freely admit isn't an angel, but which is why i said that another financial contributor is needed, because i  cannot see MP bearing it all.

But surely that is preferable to no team at all?

Where there's life there's hope and all that.I'm sure there are teams in this league who are full time on lesser gates than usand teams that have fallen further than us and come back stronger.

I don't really know, just looking at it with a positive eye instead of all the "we are doomed" comments.

I'm no lawyer but reading this rule 9 makes me think that either Mike Parker is going to be obliged to buy out all other shareholders or reduce his stake in shares so that he does not have to make an obligatory offer...

So either Fenty loses control but gets paid for his shares at a rate set by the panel or Parker cedes control back to Fenty (obviously he'll have to be voted back as Chairman by the board but that only needs 2 votes... Chapman and Elsom )

Or they both walk away and lose millions? Can't see that happening!

Understand that mate, but i just  think that going part time would just be  a long lingering death - its not so bad
if we were Nottingham area for example, where there are plenty of decent players within short distances to pick up
on a part time basis - we d'ont have that luxury.
I am a supporter for 4 decades now and the last thing i want to see is GTFC's demise, suppose all we can do is pray somehow it doesn't come to that.

No Parker stated with pin point clarity that he had no desire to either be Chaiman or even rejoin the board. He clearly stated things had changed in both his work and private life since he left the board and didnt have the time or desire to do it.

Is it any wonder Parker doesn't want to rejoin the board when it's made up of a man who agrees to do one thing but does something completely different which engineers this current impasse along with his two puppets?

but that doesn't mean to say that he can't appoint someone to be chairman and still be the power behind the throne.

one point that hasn't been mentioned , and this is a bit convuluted , I know, but here goes.
P said that F still had to put in 350k of the 500k he promised to get the club through this season, and that F planned to do this in Dec /Jan.P said that he couldn't understand why, if the shareholding situation was the big problem, why F could not just buy shares to the value of 350k, so making him the majority shareholder again.
now, correct me if i'm wrong but if F became majority shareholder again, wouldn't he then be in the position that p now finds himself in? i.e. forced to offer to buy out all the other shares. If so p could say thank you very much, here's my sahres Mr f, thanks for doing business, and walk away with no financial loss?

Thinking about last night I wondered if this was JF trying to get out of a sinking ship with as much of his money as possible...

I am assuming that the rules regarding shareholding means that if there is a new majority shareholder, then they have to make an offer for all the other shares that have been purchased by other shareholders...???

As MP is now majority shareholder I believe he has to make an offer to other shareholders for their shares, including JF... Now I wonder if JF saw this as his opportunity to get out and maybe this is why he didn't match the shareholding of MP... By letting MP become majority shareholder JF would know that an offer for his shares would have to be made and therefore gives him his exit route out of the club with a large amount of his cash back...

Parker, reading ever so slightly between the lines, didn't want anything to do with the CURRENT chairmanship or board. He would have come across as very cool and disinterested about the whole thing had he not intimated he had some potential chairmen and members in mind. This and his 54%, and the fact that he chose a lengthy interview rather than a short and to the point comment to the media that he has no interest in furthering his involvement at the club shows he's keeping his cards close until he can make a move. IMO.

one thing I will say about fenty is he does not have full decision making power....its one vote for all on the board. So why all the attention focussed on the one person on the board who is putting money in?

Whilst this is emotive, the arguing on here over some people claiming others are baliming the fans (when they are not) and others saying it is all fentys fault (which it is not) is far to simplistic and short sighted.

D'ont forget his voting monkeys Elsom and Chapman, Keelby, it would be a HUGE shock if JF was ever outvoted with them on the board, waiting in the wings to 'change their mind' in his favour!
