Steve Kabba and David Nielsen were both quality, as was Super Jack, who was virtually home grown, even if he was from Sheffield.
Bradley Allen was decent, as were Hearn and Connell.
Birtles was still class when he came to us whereas Ashcroft was a disappointment, despite his price tag. I always thought it was an obvious case of him not wanting to be here, as Limerick said.
I don't think I fully appreciated either Woods or Livvo at the time, due to their lack of pace but looking back Woods was a very cute and skilful player - and decent finisher - even if he did look like he was running through treacle.
Livvo was a warrior, great in the air and strong as an ox so good at holding the ball up. He used to bully the opposition too. Didn't he kick Casey Keller into the back of the net, along with the ball in one game? I'll also never forget when him and Teale were both sent off in the Villa game, both with their shirts shredded to bits.
The Reddy/Lump partnership was special and later Patterson was one positive in a very poor team.
But my all time favourite has to be Super Clive. What a player.
*Bit too "young" to remember Drinkell or Wilko properly.

Still maintain that Hearn could’ve gone right to the top had he stayed injury free. At his best he was far and away better than Bogle, Amond and Connell. A proper shame his body let him down

I loved watching Hearn, he'd get most out of their seat when he got on the ball in the opposition's half. Hard to say if he was better than Bogle as he never got the opportunity to play League 2 or League 1 football but on his day I'd agree he was just as good as Omar in tier 5.

We lost the game but have a look at the Livvo/Teale incident. 2:40 in on the video but then they discuss it after the game from about 16:50 in.

Hearn wasn't particularly quick but he was explosive over them first few yards.

Thanks for sharing Les, I enjoyed watching it again. I didn't realise a very young "Handysides" was at fault for both goals. McGrath was collosal and kept Villla in the game although admittedly Teale was unlucky to get an early bath! State of his shirt after tangling with Livvo 😂

Agree. Best striker we have had since Reddy IMO.

I reckon he was much better than Bogle at NL level, he was electric!
